I keep seeing an increasing number of blogs that have been created for the sole purpose of hosting guest blogs with no other content but guest posts they have acquired. A lot of these blogs are monetized with Adsense and have a pretty spammy backlink profile. For instance I cam across one of these sites with a PR of 4, but if you look at the links they are all bought .edu and .gov comment links etc. Some of the blog will have an even worse profile simply a scrapebox blast at the url.

My question is do these blogs make any money? They host an absolute ton of content and have a ton of backlinks and there seems to be a huge proliferation of such blogs, so are the guys making any cash worth writing home about?

I'd guess they make money from selling the guest post "spots", then some additional pennies from adsense. If you go on Fiverr there's a lot of these kind of gigs. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a recent WSO on the subject, haha.

So, pretty much a blog network/niche blog hybrid.

I have seen a number of these built for guest post sites looking for free content on myblogguest so imagine some hope to make money purely from Adsense. Suppose they are pretty much modern day content farms and imagine they must pick up some longtails.

Yes, they get mainly two benefits, content and charges for posting guest post in the site... but you have to moderate your site heavily, all of the guest post may not be manual and may not be quality posts, relevancy is also very important thing where you won't be getting relevant guest post according to theme of your site..

Maybe some of these site run some kind of subscription fee or charge affiliates to advertise, I guess they are gunning for authority type websites what google prefers nowadays...

If the posts are already posted online by guest bloggers in their own blogs, then creating duplicate content is of no use and the website hosting such guests posts may get banned too.
These sites don't make any money but may have to spend initially to invite quality writers.
