Made $30 on two articles today

@ AnthraxX - No sweat mate, I was directing what I said towards everyone generally(especially new members who come and throw up a bunch of the same rehashed questions without actually trying to help themselves first by doing some reading) Like I said, I realize new members aren't aware of these features. Glad it helped. :tee:

As far as Copyscape/Dupefree goes, It's always a possibilty that when it comes in close to that 15% dupe percentage that you will find a result or two in Copyscape. I always recommend to double check to confirm when the percentage is that close to 15%. You can just bring up the result in Copyscape and copy/paste the dupe Copyscape result into one side of Dupefree, then your rewrite into the other side (to compare the two side by side.) I'll then spend about 30 secs swapping out some of the dupe words and then throw it back into Copyscape to confirm that I made enough changes for it to pass.

@ JonWrong - Let your fiance know she's very welcome ;) Great idea familiarizing her with the basics of html and graphics work because as we all know, two minds are better than one! Plus, it's fun being able to work on projects with someone you love. I do the same thing with my gf. Having someone right there to bounce thoughts and ideas of off is a huge benefit. I also sent a copy of the book to my girlfriend's mother and now my gf is working with her mom as a team on AC :)

Thanks much for the kind words about the book and my approach on its advertising. I never went into it looking to tell people anything other than the fact that the effort you put in is directly related to how much you'll make with it. I'm a huge believer in karma as well, so I can't bring myself to sugarcoat the facts for a few quick sales. I think the reason that so many people have left the awesome iTrader ratings for it is because of exactly what you're speaking of Jon. It's been a real lesson to me in marketing so to speak. Through this process I've learned that few people benefit on a long term basis by trying to lie or or flat out bullshit people. Short term maybe, but not long term. Yes this is BHW, but to me being a blackhatter means different things to different people based on their own personal moral standards.

Again, thanks a lot my friend for your motivating posts and I wish nothing but the best for you and your fiance with AC.. and ALL of your online ventures!

Cheers

Thanks Red. I also found no answer yet to this next question..

As far as keywords... do phrases have to be used in the exact order of the way they are given.. for example with the keywords "JW Marriot In San Francisco" do my writers need to write the whole phrase in order or is it okay .. To use JW Marriot.. then the next sentence San Francisco...

Thanks in advance friend!

@ AnthraxX - You're welcome mate. Yes, whatever your keyword phrase, it will need to be in the same order, and of course make sure that all instances of it are spelled correctly or it won't count as part of your total keyword percentage for the article.

Cheers

@ Hammad - Thank you my friend! I decided it was finally time to give back to BHW (my extended family) and become jr vip. I've been feeling guilty about not donating with all of the great people (you as a perfect example) and information I've been rewarded with here.

I wonder why your sig isn't showing up in the jr vip section? I was just going to PM Pofecker for something unrelated so I can mention it if you want.

Thanks again Hammad for everything, you've proven yourself a true friend on so many levels/occasions!

Regards,

Redtide

I had my first article published a few days ago on AC. I got paid $2.95. It's been 3 days and I only have 90+ page views. :( How many page views do you guys get on your article per day? Can you give me some tips on how to promote my articles on AC? Or can you please give me a link to where I can find tutorials/instructions on how to promote my published AC articles. I need to increase the page views of my article.

Twitter is my number one way to promote articles. Make sure each AC account has it's own Twitter account.

Bookmarking sites, stumbleupon, facebook, myspace, etc.

I think Red had mention Hootsuite many pages ago.

If you use firefox you can look up social bookmarking add-ons.

I'm not too familiar with Explorer since I don't use it much.

There are so many ways to promote you articles, just look around.

hey redtide
today i bought AC insiders guide
my AC account is at clout level 4 with 35 published articles but still i get offers around $2-3 , since long no articles have been rejected for offer.
but why still i get low offers

I know this is geared towards RedTide but if you want i'll offer you some advice since I'm at a similar clout level and have been working AC day in and day out for a few months. I will honestly put in a good 8 hours or more a day to AC.

I'm at a clout level 5 and my general pay is between $3.50 and $4.11 It takes awhile to get into the $5 range, a clout level of 4 isn't going to automatically do it. You gotta remember AC runs your articles through a sofisticated program first, that decides a lot of your payment. Then it's read by a human. These are the thigns I find that help me specifically.

1. Keyword Density, 2% is great and I've found if you go to high they don't like it.

2. Recently i've been dinged for too many links in my articles, I've found they like about 2-3 good informative links. They have specifically wrote me and changed some links for being too "commercial". So don't link the word "Wal-Mart" to WalMart.com. It makes since because your taking businesss from there advertisements and sending the reader somewhere else to buy a product.

3. Hoenstly as ridiculous as it sounds REALLY focus on your titles. It really means more to them then you think. Even if it's something they can simply fix (and i've had them change mine without even telling me) it will get you more upfront on your offer if it's properly formatted. Make sure your keyword is in the first few words, if not the first word or phrase.

4. Sum up your articles well with your last paragraph.

5. If you are writing a product review DO NOT promote the product too much, praise it's "holyness", and how amazing it is. Make sure towards the end of the review you at least have a paragraph on some down falls of the product. Not only will they think you are trying to promote a product your somehow invovled with. They won't make as much off the advertisements on the page if you praise a product too much in my opinion.

Have you ever noticed teh advertisements are generally for SIMILAR products and not the exact one your writing about. So obviously if you pusht he reader to only want the exact product youw rote about because it's the most amazing thing ever, what is the chance they will click one of AC's ad's and buy a similar product? Pretty slim. I know that it seems ridiculous but i've seen a definite change in Upfront offers on product reviews if I make sure to write a paragraph about the products down falls and direct the reader to still shop around, even though the product im reviewing is great.

This helps AC make more sales obviously and in turn they will pay you more up front.

This approach was used on my fiance's FIRST article ever with a product review of a tent and with a clout level 1 they gave her $4 for an upfront payment on her first submissione ever. Not bad.

I know that your question was directed at RedTide but I thought I could offer a little of my own insight that might help you out buddy. I believe in Karma and I love helping people. This thread has helped me so much I love to give back and I appreciate all the thanks I have gotten from members.

You guys are awesome! :D

@ kapow! - If your article had only been published 3 days prior, 90 views isn't bad at all. It's all a numbers game. Submit a lot more and a "snowball" effect takes place to where people start taking note of your body of work. The more articles you have, the more it snowballs into higher view counts. Like Millygirl mentioned, go back and read up on the things we've already talked about regarding methods to bring up your page views. Twitter and bookmarking will be your best starting points.

Good luck

@ neoasthana - Thanks much, I sent you a follow up email with more details as well. Clout level is just one part of the equation. It also depends on all of the other things I talked about in the book and in this thread. It sounds like maybe you aren't quite giving them just what they're wanting yet. They like what you send them or they would be rejecting you, but now that you have the book you should be able to raise those offers if you put everything into action.

Good luck

@ jonwrong - Thanks for helping, btw did you get my email last night regarding Rancho?

Absolutely, any review pieces we submit need to come off as unbiased as possible. AC likes to throw things out there like "doesn't qualify for upfronts because it's too promotional", so if the article is kind of a typical review where it's making the product/place sound like it's the next best thing since sliced bread, you'll want to add a paragraph or two to help show both sides.

This is another reason I stay away from Ezine articles. Most reviews there are written to promote a certain product and lead the reader into purchasing it. This kind of thing is not what AC is looking for.

Thanks again Jon, your input and help is ALWAYS welcome my friend.

Cheers

Yeah I totally got your e-mail i've just been swamped with work, I did write you back though a few minutes ago. Thank you for the quick delivery on your e-book after I purchased it with my PayPal account. You literally got it to me in minutes. So far im amazingly impressed with your e-book RedTide. It's worth every penny I payed for it. To everyone out there thinking about purchasing this e-book. It's amazing even if you already are doing well with AC and understand it good. Honestly it's amazing how well written it is. You'd think RedTide wrote "How-To" technical guides his whole life.

It's written to where anyone can understand it and benifit from it. Whether your advanced with AC or just starting this book will help you out. Once i'm completely done with it I'll go ahead and post an honest unbiased review for everyone here. I know it's been reviewed plenty before but the more the merrier right? It just shows that consistently people have said your e-book is worth it, that's a good sign for anyone on the fence about purchasing it. I'm satisfied so far RedTide, I appreciate the quick delivery of the e-book after I purchased it.

I'm off to the pool hall i'll be back soon guys. Ive been grinding all mornign its time for a break.

I got paid for my first article. I was paid 2.24. It was about *insert brand name here* and I notice when I wrote it that when I looked at the article where ever it said *brand name* that it was linked to the search page for *brand name* Do you think that we might get hire upfronts if we do the linking ourselves?

It's possible, if you think you can do more relevant and better linking than what came with the "template" article I'm assuming your using if I'm correct on what your saying. Also if your new to AC with a low clout level getting $2.24 is pretty normal.

My fiance somehow is a freak and started off getting $4.00 with her first article with a clout level of 1, and has continued to stay in the $3-$4 range. Her clout is still low, and she does very well. She was also in AP English in high school and has written most her life.

Me on the other hand my payments went up as my clout went up. It was a blatant systematic advancement. If i made a graph out of it, it would have been perfect linear increase with my clout level.

So linking yourself instead of using the pre made links like it sounds like you had, might help. but also remember that your clout level might be a bigger issue you then the links.

@ Jon - You're welcome my friend...I'm glad you liked it! Hopefully you and your firance can use the things I talk about to bring your upfronts even higher. You've already made such an awesome start that I hope it helps to add some icing to the cake so to speak.

I wish both of you all of the continued success in the world.

Btw, I'm a bigtime pool fan as well, I'm freaking jealous! lol

@ dustydharma - No, because AC has a method to their madness with their linking. If you try to do that kind of linking yourself they will see it as being "promotional" and could reject it. Like I talked about earlier, you can link to other reviews and things of the name brand but I wouldn't link to sales pages and things like that.

We had an awesome time playing pool actually. No need to be jealous just get out and take your lady to play some pool as well. I'm sure there is a local pool hall in the area.

You've definitely given me some good pointers to add some icing to the cake. We've been working at it all day. I helped my fiance raise her self up an entire clout level in a day. She was really excited to see such a jump over night.

Thank you for the kind words and help as always. I hope i've been giving back help to this community as well.

You're welcome kapow, glad it helped!

You definitely have Jon,

It's great to have people to bounce things off of with AC. Congrats btw for your $5+ offer. They must have reviewed that sucker fast if the book played a part in the bump in upfront pay. I hope you and your fiance are able to continue building on it mate

Thanks neoasthana on the kind words with your iTrader, I'm glad I've been able to help "make your wallet heavier" as you put it. I wish you continued success my friend.

Have a good one you guys, I'm outta here for the night.

Redtide

Yeah they seriously did a same day review on the article that got me my first $5+ payout. I was happy as could be and it really didn't take much more tweaking over what I was already doing. This morning I was flooded with offers all over $4 as well so I'm definitely getting into the flow of things. Thank you!

This is something I've ALWAYS wondered as well, when I tried this method though It didn't seem to change my upfronts. Maybe you will have more success with it but I only tried it on two articles. I went back to linking stuff myself to what I felt relevant well staying within what AC wants. Try it out a few times and report back to us I'm really interested in this and if it works better for someone else.

Nono, that's not what I meant. Lets say I wrote an article on Dell. And then I submitted this article to AC, well AC takes my article and every time it says the word "dell" it redirects you to hxxp://www.asso*ciated*cont*ent.c0m/subject/article/dell so instead of AC doing it I link the word dell to that same search query on their site. Does this make your payouts higher?

@ tamsin - Hiring rewriters and taking the time to find the gems is the best long term solution. It's a lot more time consuming but if you want to try software, Wordflood is a pretty solid choice. If you can type that fast you may find it's faster to just take an original and rewrite it manually, two sentences at a time.

@ dustydharma - My bad, sorry I misundertood what you were saying. To be honest, the jury is still out on this one. Through my testing, I really don't think it's making a difference on my upfronts. I think it makes sense considering the linking is done automatically by AC's software, so it's not like we're saving them time having to do the linking themselves. It's all auto-generated. Like John said, do some testing of your own and let us know if you feel like you're noticing a difference with your accounts.

@ Jon - You're welcome man...keep those $4-$5 offers rockin! I got your PM about PPV's so I'll answer it here so that it can be clarified for everyone. They are total accumulative and continue to grow every month, but after a payout it's typical for them to revert back like they did in your case. It's a glitch within AC for it to take a few days for them to update after a payout. Post back up in a few days if they still haven't updated your total page views mate

Cheers,

Red

Damn i just read this entire thread in one go. Well deserved +rep to redtide for all the info and help he's given people. Definitely in the top 1% of posters on blackhatworld.

Thanks mate...that's one helluva lot of reading so +rep for doing it right and taking the time researching before just blasting questions out there.

@ everyone - just a reminder that the best way to combat the "content is not unique enough" excuse is to work on the methods already outlined to bring up your page views. AC is continually cracking down on just sending you upfront payments without you bringing up your page views. Again, to AC the upfront offers they give you are an investment in you and your ability to bring in page views for your articles. If you're just "taking" with the upfronts but not "giving" with the page views, they'll either drop your offers way down or just start rejecting your content.

I got word today that this is the main reason they're using the "not unique" excuse more often lately. It's actually page views in most cases.

This is so true, I went a long time with NEVER getting a declined article. I had 1 decline in 30 articles. Then all of the sudden over 2 days I got 4 articles declined for "Not being unique enough, AC is trying to build a unique library of blah blah blah" My writing hadn't changed at all and was just as unique and usual as it has always been.

I made a few tweaks plus spent 2 days just promoting articles in a certain niche I planned to write on again (So I could show them my articles in that specific niche DO perform). After those 2 days I went back to one of my comfortable niches that got declined a few days before and received my highest upfront offer ever breaking $5 finally with only a clout 5 account. I reeived 3 more offers in that same category for $4+ as well over the next day.

So one day your article could be "Not unique enough" simply because your not also promoting your page views. That same article that wasn't worth even $1 is all of the sudden your best paying upfront yet after some minore tweaks and 2 days of solid page view promotion.

I mean it could be a coincidence, but i think not! :D I seriously log everything I do with AC as far as strategy. Almost to the point of obsessing over it. I even build graphs for progress compared to certain strategies over others I have implemented. I try not to spend TOO much time analyzing and not working but some analyzing could really help you see some trends in pay that you might not ever not ice otherwise.

AC is ever evolving so you should be evolving with it. There isn't any "guaranteed" system with them. The only "guarantee" I see is always trying to evolve with them and pay attention to the changes & change with them.

Thanks mate...that's one helluva lot of reading so +rep for doing it right and taking the time researching before just blasting questions out there.
