Macbook Pro 13" M1 Chip

hello guys,
i considering changing my Dell Xps,
it was a long run , but now its time to change ,
i thinking try apple at this time and i have alot of questions regarding the new macbook pro m1 chip,
is anyone have it ? recommend it ?
is it good for designers ? big illustrator files ? autodesk Maya ?.... Avid ?

i need a little help becuase its my first mac ... so im little afraid to change but i want to listen first ....

Don't be afraid to change. I have MacBook Pro 13 2015 i5 2.7ghz, 8gb of ram. Before buying I thought that I'll only use it for browsing, but I was wrong. Which is plenty for the work I do - photoshop, illustrator, premiere, regular coding.

As for the M1 mac, I have seen a lot of reviews and I must say that I am impressed with how much power it has. Perhaps it may be scary to jump to 1st gen CPU's, but for me, Apple has not let me down even with the older/lower range products.

What are your Dell Xps specs?
 
Bought a macbook, productivity dropped like 50% - sold a macbook. But i guess the problem was that i've used windows for 23 years and then new OS made me troubles on speed making tasks and finding what i need and it was different so bought again windows laptop, but if you work static work with one app and not moving all around threw windows and remote desktops and many other stuffs so dont be afraid of changes ;)

Yeah, it takes time to adjust. I have a main windows PC, which I've built-in 2017. Now only use it for Jarvee :alien: or longer video renderings. And sometimes it takes longer to find settings on Windows than on Mac OS.

There is a rumour that m1x chip is coming, so you could wait for that, as it will be more powerful.
 
Dont jump on it yet.

Also, based on everything you mentioned there, you will be better with any other Windows based laptop.

to be honest I love big screens, and downgrade from laptop 16" to 13" its huge difference I think, hell yeah I will wait
i have searched the internet about news for the 16" mac pro with the new processor but , nothing garanteed

You just get used to it, it's much smaller and more comfortable to carry around. If I need a bigger display, I just connect my 13" to an external 25" monitor.

The quality image that macbook gives may be more attractive. I guess I'm a bit of an apple fan these days :D
 
I got it, but I'd say until many developers actually make software for M1 specifically, you won't be missing too much. It's like buying the Xbox Series X and not having 120hz TV. It'll be good, but you won't be getting the full bang for your buck.

Yeah, I also think that I am a bit of an apple fan myself :D.

I'd also love to upgrade my current Samsung S9 Plus to iPhone 12 Pro Max, but it costs like a new laptop :suspicious:

Directed towards everyone:
This is something some folks should keep in mind. Expecting to jump to a new OS does take time to learn and you might not like the experience right away. I had the opposite experience norkodeo had. macOS also has a boatload of keyboard commands you could learn and once I found the ones I need along with learning how to properly use the trackpad along with being able to easily AirDrop between devices, answering phone calls and text messaging without having to touch my phone all right out of the box... My productivity has gone up since switching.

As far as M1 is concerned I initially did not like Apple's decision to switch away from Intel but, I am reading a lot of great reviews about them. As soon as iMacs are released using Apple silicon then I'm getting one.
 
Highly recommended and yes, great for designers you can power up an intensive graphics app and still work on day to day task without it effecting performance. I tried running blender and sone vm instances on a dell inspiron and i got a message telling me i’m out of ram? Anyone ever got that message before? It freaked me out a bit as i’ve never seen that message before. Now I only use my windows system for apps by these geeks that refuse to code for anything other than windows for some reason.

Anyway new M1 chip based machines, far better than I thought they would be.
 
Using an old mid-2012 mbp every day for intensive work. I never had a problem with it. I am thinking to change it this year for an iMac Pro.

My girlfriend has MacBook Pro 13 2012 non-retina. She wanted to upgrade, but then I just changed HDD to SSD and it's like a new laptop.
Also, this model is quite expensive even used.
