I'm gonna buy a new laptop but I'm between MacBook and laptop. Never had Macbook. I want it to work on IM. What do you recommend me? I'm gonna spend max 1200 euros.

Yes ofc but the size of screen will be 13.3 inches.

Used computer equipment. You don't need the latest and greatest shiny computer.
Is mac is your flavor then pick up a older mac pro either the old one or the new trashcan one, if windows is your pick get a used desktop that has good specs. I'm running on a i3 CPU with 6GB of ram and a Firestation AMD Graphics card with 5 monitors connected one of them being 4K. All running great and its a 3 year old setup I got it in 2017. But I mostly RDP into my local servers that I host in my home, so the desktop is just a thin client.
Its about whats in the inside not the outside. All you need is a good mult-thread processor 8GB of ram or more a fast disk space for OS (SSD) and then some spinning disks for storing large media.
For laptops Lenovo Thinkpads is 100% my choice has been for over a decade.

I work from a 2012 macbook pro 13 inch, with SSD and 16gb I installed. I can RDP in to VPS for windows apps. Works well, but the 2nd disc is dead and I have recked the keyboard...
However, I am about to upgrade to a 2017 model for about £600. Max the RAM and disc and good to go for another 5+ years.

Too small for me, i would go for a Macbook pro 16 inch

Go 2nd hand and get a macbook pro, max it out and get a couple of decent monitors for less than the air.

Agreed laptops are great, but if your looking for serious work and need to get shit done then you need nothing less than 2 screens

Don’t get a MacBook, all it has is a good display and build quality, and I used one for over 2 years.
You can find higher spec laptops for much cheaper. Even gaming laptops perform better than a Mac. If you are only buying it for the Mac experience you can just use Arch Linux with kids plasma and add a skin or two.

I agree with Chrissy almost 100% with a few extra sprinkles of input.
Lenovo Thinkpads are amazing computers to get second hand as they are typically built for industry instead of consumers which means that they are going to have higher-end parts and are typically going to be sold ridiculously cheap from liquidators. I got a W540 which is a 2014 model last year for $245. It has an i7, 8gb ram, a 256gb ssd, and a quadro graphics card. An extra $40 gets you a 1TB hdd and housing to replace the DVD reader (which will NEVER get used). Thinkpads are super upgradeable too. The one negative thing I will say about think pads are that they are typically pretty large, thick, and heavy. It can be a pretty big hassle to carry one around all day so keep that in mind. I wanna say the body style is a lot more modern looking for the more recent think pads....this might be the route you want to go if you don't like having people talking trash about how your computer looks
Second-hand apple products are also pretty cheap. As far as MacBooks go there are a few things to consider. Even though most MacBooks might look the same and even seem to have the same specs its VERY important to do your research so that you know what you are getting. Also if you are going for a newer MacBook Pro the newer models have 2-4 USB-C ports not USB so you will need adapters for EVERYTHING..... That being said I actually really like using USB-C as it makes all of the I/O universal. you always know you are going to need X to USB-C. These models also have a touch bar I don't know if people like it but I HATE it. There is no physical escape key and I hit the Siri button while typing often which is very annoying. Also to my knowledge current MacBooks are not upgradeable (I could be wrong though).

Oh yeah I used to have the famous T440p that I upgraded to the fullest spec possible 2 years ago. Still have still runs great. But like you said its such a darn brick to lug around especially with the extended battery. I had a macbook for a few months and I just could't get the same flow of production out of it. Even the solid and sharp edges of the metal unibody just doesnt feel right.
Now I have a x250 that I love. Might upgrade to the x270 in another two years once it gets a little cheaper
