Mac Yosemite to macOS Ventura

Hi Everyone,

I have an old Mac (circa 2008) that originally came with Yosemite. I am not able to update the system anymore as Apple does not support Yosemite. Is there a way I can change the OS from Yosemite to the latest macOS?

I had a customer last week with same issue. I found two alternatives for him.
One was I found a freeware application for OSX that tricks the OS into thinking it's the latest version. I don't remember the name, but it was essentially a very large (required 16gb usb) iso for you to burn an image onto and boot from. I didn't spend too much time learning what exactly it does or how it does it. The alternative was reformat with a linux OS.

I opted out for installing Linux Mint. Then i optimized it to look like OSX with a similar dock program. I didn't want to use that other freeware program because if it had problems i would be stuck offering support for it. ask your question in google you should find quora/reddit/blog posts with the tool. or just go reformat with your favorite linux image.

You may be able to burn an iso for latest OSX and try booting it. but i imagine macintosh chips have something there to cockblock you halfway through the process.

yes you can do it with opencore legacy patcher, but before that you need to read about supported models, and read carefully the documentation
