MAC Or PC!?...

I was planning on making a hackintosh just to try it, would it be good or just a waste of time?

MAC has Retina, in case you're a full time IMer.

Apple products look great and work like a dream - but for a fraction of the price, you can build a rig that has a lot more power and is functional.

An "assembled" desktop PC with the latest i7 processor, 16GB RAM, 4GB graphics card, 27" monitor and a 500 GB SSD will cost about half of what a similar iMac costs.

Use some flavor of Linux instead of Windows and you will have a really fast machine for a fraction of what an iMac costs.

I would love to buy an iMac, but it simply does not make any sense when you look at the specs and price difference.

In my opinion, waste of time. You always hack again if a update crash your conf.

For those who are looking to run Windows only software in Linux, without using Wine.. simply use Virtualbox. I use Virtualbox for ms office (open office kinda sux.. especially the excel) and photoshop. If the vm is configured well, you will have no problem whatsoever, given that your machine has atleast 8gigs of ram and supports virtualization (for guest add.on..e.g. host to guest copy paste etc)

I've heard that Macs are well better for running Grinder on.

I have been using Linux Mint for almost 2 years without any problems.

However, I have a VPS for running software 24/7.

But overall,for my work, Linux Mint does the same job as a PC.

Plus, I don't have to worry about WannaCry or BS virus stuff.

I run windows but don't have to worry about wannacry either since I have an updated OS and not a 15 year old one.

Same thing here. I've a relatively old iMac and a windows computer of about the same age. I use my iMac everyday without problems and last week I wanted to use that crap ass pc, it never turned on... Disk failure or some crap like that.

This... Just update the OS and get a fucking AV and even if you know shit about computers and protecting yourself from viruses, 9 times out of 10 you won't get infected. Hell, on the laptop I just bought with Windows 10, I don't even have an AV and just using Windows Defender.

@OP: Specs wise, you would be a retard to choose Mac, because it's overpriced like fuck. Basically, you are paying more for design only, nothing else... If you have money and just want a shiny product, get a Mac and show off. If you want computer power so you can work more productively by doing lots of things at the same time, get a custom built machine, it will cost at the very least 2x less than a Mac. OS wise, it doesn't really matter; you can install anything you want on your machine - Windows, macOS, Linux or all of them if you want. The only good thing about a Mac is that it doesn't lose its monetary value over time like a custom built machine does (no matter what brand you get). You can sell a Mac you bought for around 60-80% of its original price some years later, provided you do not fuck it up of course and it's in good condition. That will never happen with other brands, even if you sell it after a few months.

Hackintosh and macbook.

First of all MAC and PC are the same thing
Both are using Motherboard/CPU/RAM/GPU/HD/LAN etc.

(Just to kill some trolls with a stone).

The biggest question is , how you feel paying 2 to 3 times more for the same performance versus fruits-free computer

well..better ask your pocket...if can afford it then go for it...

I have a friend that has a 2004 Mac. It still runs, but is a dust collected since he has moved to netbooks. He uses the Mac to impress people, the netbooks and cell phone for work.

I put Windows 8 on a 2002 Emachines laptop. Until the drive crashed my wife used it. It cost more for the drive than it was worth. I then put Windows 8 on a 2006 Asus laptop from China (complete with Chinese keys) and later updated that to Windows 10 for my wife. She prefers her Windows 8 cell phone for most tasks. Occasionally I use her laptop to scan documents because the scanner is connected to her laptop. The hassle in setting up an old computer with a newer OS is finding drivers, but it is not that hard. The Emachines I had to do some low level changes to a couple of drivers, but they worked.

I use a custom built PC with Windows 8.1 and Classic Shell. I dual boot into Kali Linux. I also have several virtual Machines of both VMWare and Virtualbox (I prefer VMWare because of better isolation from the host). Those virtual machines are several different flavors of Linux, several versions of OSX, and every version of Windows from DOS 6.1 to Windows 10 Creators Edition excluding Windows 98 and Millennium, I also run BSD. I operate those VM's from both Windows and from Linux.

I prefer the Windows environment because of the range of programs available for Windows. Each OS has its strengths, but the OS with the fewest benefits is OSX.

It is your choice as to what you eventually buy, but it is my opinion that if you actually want to get work done you are best off with a Windows box. If you need other OS's, then run them in a virtual machine.

i always use windows for full time, but using mac for part time, mac is pretty easy to use as part time, in my opinion go with mac, easy and fast for online business!
