mac or pc???

Okay, new computer time and I have been toying with the idea of mac. If pc, I am toying with dell e5530 latitude with 64bit and min 8gb ram. Not sure about mac though. Can I get some recommendations?

I made the switch to Mac, never looked back. iMac, I run parallels for my windows fix.

I've been a PC guy my whole life. I got a Mac Book Air just for everyday browsing of the web etc. and it's changed my mind big time. I'm a Mac guy now all the way! It all depends what you're doing. If you need a computer that supports windows programs, go with a PC, or use parallels on a mac. In my opinion, go with a Mac, but to each their own.

i made the switch from dos to windows and never looked back, lol, seriously though, depending on what you want to do, pc is prob best, as its got the most software, and been around longer, i'm not saying it will always be like this, but it still rules at the moment.

Basically, this will be used as my work computer. IM, seo, some design, managing hosting accounts, etc. The only issue I have is the cost of getting new software (windows for mac, adobe suite, etc) for mac.

If you go mac, go with a desktop.

If you're thinking of getting a macbook, save your money.

Either one and and run all your stuff in a virtual machine so you won't have any problems in case you download something not perfectly clean..

What kind of issues with macbook? Is this just a cost issue or performance issues?

imac with windows ftw,, use vmware fusion.. i run everything with video editing. Just jam the most ram u can, 16g for me now, have a 2tb hardrive and ur good to go.

Macs are not worth the money. They can't run any IM software, they cost much, they aren't as flexible and your going to have to re learn how to use your computer.

Both Mac and PC do similar things but you will get an infinitely stronger PC for the price a wildly overpriced Mac.

Apple's computers nothing else but design, they use the same hardware as PCs. If you're after nice looking computer that will fit your office go for Mac, if you need a workstation that will run every piece of software without questions, buy PC.

Before considering any recommendation, keep in mind, it all comes down to preference.

The obvious cons of Macs is that they are more expensive and less compatible with SEO programs. Pros include that they are visually appealing, less prone to viruses, and they have a simplified GUI.

That being said I run my VPS on my Mac as well as a dualboot setup for backup. I have NEVER run into something I couldn't do on a mac.

Clearly the prices are a bit ridiculous, but in that aspect, a Mac is just a luxury computer. Is a luxury car really worth the money you spend on it? If it provides you some sort of utility, then yes.

Life is not all about getting the most "bang for your buck." Splurging on luxury products is what makes earning money so fun.

So, once again, I reference my main point; it comes down to preference.

mac software is based on linux, i personally recommend linux. you can buy a mac computer if you like and run OSX and Linux.

Macbook Pro sounds good for me. If you have enough budget, just go ahead. It well worth the money.

The OS needs to be 64-bit to run over 4gb's of ram (like 3.2gb).

Personally I use the linux operating system so I could buy a PC that has a BIOS that wasn't made by apple. You can always dual boot operating systems too, or run virtual machines - there are very well programmed open-source alternatives to this.
