    Hi im chris,

have know about this forum for probs about 2 years. I haven't taken any action in these 2 years. Apart from buying some domains and reading loads, but doing nothing. This stops now. I'm going to do work, make mistakes and learn from that. imagine if I had this attitude 2 years ago:)

The last few weeks I have read a lot on this forum and it has really motivated me to do keyword research for the first time. I have found 2 niches and have bought appropriate domains for them.

I am a hard worker and want to work hard for myself not someone else. This is my chance for that and I am going to put as much time as I can into this.

I would like to ask the regular members here a couple of questions

When you started up, what were your biggest mistakes?
What do you wish someone told you when you first started?

    All the best,

    Chris

When I first started my biggest mistakes were buying cheap links from fiver, and boyyyy I paid for that lol If you are looking to expand your advertising, do a search on Ulead on here and check out the software that can definitely take you to the next level :) good luck and looking forward to hearing good things from you!

Welcome to the forum! I was a lurker for about 2 years before I joined up too. Great to have you on board here.

In regards to your questions, one of the biggest mistakes when I first started IM was really spinning my wheels.

I think I was just like a lot of the people when they first start out in this industry. I was constantly reading new methods, buying ebooks, and the worst part of all everything I was reading and learning I would implement right away without having a solid plan of action. This led to spinning my wheels by trying new methods every 1-3 days which resulted in half assing them. I kept saying to my self "well... didn't make anything with this method, move to the next one", meanwhile overloading myself with loads of information, tasks, and methods.

After some time, lots of failures, and little success, I realized that I was simply not moving forward and making little to no money (spinning my wheels). I realized that I had to take a different approach to IM if I wanted to really start making any money. So I changed my mindset and actions completely, I made it a rule for myself to only take on 3 methods/strategies that I really enjoyed doing (This way it would not feel like a chore to do anything). I began implementing this methods and strategies over a period of about 4-6 weeks. After that, I started changing little variables around to start split testing and analyzing patterns and trends. Long story short, I ended up gaining a lot more momentum in the long run and started actually making money. Now the best thing here is I was doing what I love and getting paid doing it. Yes it was a bumpy ride but that experience gave my brain some of the tools which have helped me tremendously throughout my IM journey.

The thing I wish someone told me when I first started is this pretty much this; Write down a list of about 10 methods/strategies that you really enjoy doing (maybe its blogging, social networking, or seo). Once you have that list pick 3 out that seem to stand out the most to you in the sense that when you do it, it does not feel like "work". Now, start with the first one and start implementing it for sometime, if and only if you feel comfortable after some time then you should take on number 2. Otherwise do the first method/strategy for a period of at least 2-4 weeks. After that period start putting small twists on different variables so you can split test and gain some momentum. If it's not working for you after split testing for at least 4-6 weeks then maybe it's time to move to the next one in your list.

This helps set your self up for success. Yes, it's going to be difficult but IM is not for everyone. If you love something that constantly changes and challenges you then IM may be for you.

    Hope this helps you!
