This is my conclusion when I see some channels on the same niche consistently getting 1MM views, doing the same content pretty much. Yet for some reason, they consistently hit 1+MM per view while others have the typical shitty 80k-140k view videos and randomly one goes 1MM+. Im talking big channels.

I can compare the channels, look at the content, and look at the numbers, and I have no other way to conclude but to think that for some reason, some channels enter into a lucky spot where they consistently get their views recommended and reach 1MM+ per videos while I like said, others get 80k-140k ish views and very randomly one gets recommended and reaches 1MM+

Like I said before, im talking 2+ million sub channels, same niche. Generic same content content on the niche, some get more views than others for no apparent reason. I just have reach the conclusion that some get ranked above others but the content is so generic and same ish that there isn't an objective reason one should deserve more views than others.

It's so frustrating to deal with the amount of luck involved to get recommended and getting recommended is everything if your niche makes no money outside of AdSense so basically views.

This is not luck, this is youtube's algorithm, you have not mastered it, so you only see the surface.

When you master it, you can also get 1 million plays

Unless you work at Google and know how the algorithm works you are just trying your luck because you don't really know the situation.

You can only have a very limited set of tools:

-the video: to try to raise % of retention
-the thumbnail and tittle: to try to rise % of CTR

That's about it. And in the niche im talking about, it doesn't make sense, the content is generic, they don't even bother with original titles, or sometimes not even a description or tags

You can't tell an objective reason some channels consistently hit some number and others don't other than luck of the channel being put on a privileged position where you get more recommendations by a robot so basically luck

Luck has nothing to do with this mate. Keep focused on creating engaging content (high retention rate), and YouTube will promote your videos, and you'll start seeing a snowball effect. If viewers drop off after 20 seconds, your video sucks, and YouTube knows it, hence they won't promote it. With that said, most of the time you do need a push in terms of promoting your video, and getting views and engagement so the algorithms can measure your videos metrics.

Nonsense. Luck is so important. If you don't work at Google you don't know what the algorithm is doing beyond some vague "CTR+retention+engagement" notion which scammers use to sell "youtube courses" as if they knew any better. Reality is some channels doing the exact same thing as others get millions of views per video while others don't.

Some channels enter into a loop from hell where with every upload they lose subs because the videos don't get recommended enough so they end up with more subs leaving than coming. Subs are useless anyway, it's just another metric that shows if your videos are getting recommended enough to break even and gain subs. Getting your videos recommended is everything, and getting them recommended is luck in the sense of you don't know wtf is going on behind the curtain. Your channel may have entered a flag where they don't give you as many impressions anymore and yet you keep up uploading like an scammed idiot while now other channel became the latest one to promote. It's fucking infuriating. And content quality doesn't matter. At least in my niche a ton of traffic is generic kids that would watch any half assed crap, yet I try to add a bit of extra quality for an edge, but other channels uploading straight crap get more views. Then you try to emulate the same crap and you don't get the results. People always like to not admit it's luck but reality is some channels enter into a retarded good luck streak where they make viral videos in a row doing the same shit. I have my tab opened with a channel that is pumping trashy content without keywords or descriptions getting their videos recommended and 1+ million per video while other stablished channel in the same niche entered in a bad luck row for months now and isn't ranking the videos.

The only people that consistently get trillions of views are idiots that become viral like MrBeast shilling wasting money to kids. But 99% of channels come and go. Im talking about being an anonymous channel. But for some reason some keep consistent in their videos doing the same garbage, EXACTY fucking same thing. While others doing the exact thing get deranked. This is luck because you don't have the numbers in front of you to know exactly what is going on. Only if you worked at Google and saw the algorithm and your P-score and all that you would get an actual answer

I was thinking this way ~10 years ago. Why is my biz growing slow while all other SAME bizs around me are blooming?
Turns out that there are many many factors in everything you do - not just YT.
But luck - as it is - is to get a single video on a random channel that you uploaded 15 yrs ago goes viral.
If 2 videos go viral - there is a pattern and they are doing something right.

You keep talking about luck and "garbage same thing all of them are doing" - do the same if you think that's as easy.

Also, in 97% of the cases, you need to understand how humans work and not algorithms.

So much negativity, go take a pill.

My point is that I can point to a set of channels of similar size doing THE SAME and some are stuck and others are getting a ton of views. The content is same niche, and in fact some of the channels with stuck views have better quality. There's no logical explanation as to why beyond the algorithm favouring some channels for unknown reasons unless you work at Google and can see the code. It's like trying to explain how a closed source program works, we can only take guesses and speculate but ultimately we don't know wtf is going on behind the curtain, we are just testing some get better results doing the same.

Luck is only for half-baked creators, leechers and spammers.

millions of views from a solid plan is not a surprised nor "luck". Do you believe the NBA channel is just a luck?

ill have to disagree with every one of you. i have done enough testing across multiple channels.
what @Tribulations is saying is true to an extent.
i have done tests which inculde, testing the exact same content , not even different video, exact same, across multiple channels.
however certain channels performed like way better than the others.
there is infact to some degree luck associated with certain mails/channels.
some are given better luck than the others.

there is no logical reason why, one channel should explode with millions of views, while the other channels should only get like 10k views or like 100k. etc, with the exact same content.

note here that content quality has no dropped, changed or become better or worse.
its carbon copy.

so to analyse this problem and get to its roots, ill tell you what i have understood from this.
every mail/channel gets different amount of luck.

some mails have better trust factors, example if someone owns a huge authority site for adsense, and the google account is aged and trusted.
when he makes a channel on youtube there is a chance of better "luck" within the first few days, to go viral.
there are 2 cases where i saw this happen with friends.

another case to increase luck/channel viralness, if you own a big authority channel that you grinded and got to that level, that mail that owns your brand account or channel,. will get higher trust factors , aka mail p score sort of thing.
now under that mail if you create a new channel, the channel has a better chance of going viral, quickly.
i have tested this many times and seen quick results.

exactly i agree based on tests.
thats my point BUT check the reply to the guy below. he is right in some way too.

although i disgaree with the rest of the people above i have to agree with you aswell, since what you are saying is also right .
to be honest its the anonymous cjannels that might suffer this fate.
however theres a lot of good quality channels that also experiences what i said.
some channels get more views than others even with worse content due to "luck".
example ive seen some film making channels get less views with epic content and some other channels got viral views with worse content, out of the blue due to luck, clearly not because their content is better.

but anyway for the last part,
YES !! to conclude if you have a solid plan, like Mrbeast, logan paul etc.
no matter how bad luck your luck is, in the algorithm, you can grind our way out and build your luck/score, to higher levels.
this is true without a doubt.

a combination of strategies, right marketing and promtion plus grinding with super HQ, viral content, will surely let your channel get to big levels, and you can overcome the "lower luck" factors that your channel began with and beat even the luckier channels.

Remember the views you are comparing to, might be also manipulated on those viral 1million videos, so I wouldn't get your heart set on taking over the top performers.

Instead, look for the smaller average, and take it that you will probably get that share of the market. Sometimes channels have been uploading consistently for many years before they take off. (yes, I also see the odd small channel that has millions of videos and the videos are bad, but they are few between)

Sometimes it can be a fresh niche take on the topic, but yes, there still involves a bit of binary luck, but this is very much influenceable with: a good channel name, thumbnails, engaging videos, and consistent contribution.

yes this is possible too.
youtube from what ive understood is never fixed.
its so randomized that algorithms keep changing , you need to constantly adapt and evolve

What makes me insanely paranoid is shadow banning of sorts without you even knowing you triggered it. For instance, certain keyword on your video tittle, description, video keywords, even subtitles, community posts... who the f*ck knows, anything could trigger your bad luck. Even comments from people (and those damn bots with hot girls spamming links) could trigger bad luck. This is the way I see it. In my case my niche is borderline kids but still can get away with marking it as not for kids so I want to be as E rated as possible, so im always paranoid that im being "too much for kids" or "not enough for kids" to trigger that nice sweet spot where you get insane amounts of recommended views from all over the world (which I think only happens in rated E stuff)

Then there's just the fact that you have a small window of opportunity of like 2 days to get your video seen in the recommended section which also has a small pool of slots for your video to pop in here.

And finally, once your channel grows to a certain size, when you upload a video and it underperforms you lose more subs than gain because the channel is too big for a video that doesn't get enough views, so im paranoid that these things start a bad luck spiral if you don't get another viral video again to maintain the growth needed for the channel. Also notice how YT stopped telling us how many subs we gain/lose for some reason:

Certainly an important factor in youtube these days. That is why tell people to have backup plan before starting a youtube channel.

I agree with you, but i don't think spammers get lucky views

It seems you have to change little bit methodology for your videos. Same content as other will surely de ranked. Change the way of approaching to content or matter to audience in different ways. As you have many competitor, you have to work very hard and also smart to overtake them.
As your niche are same, you need to focus presenting your content in different style and learn more and more to beat your competitor. Try to popularize your channel in many ways to reach your audience.

instead of being paranoid with every single step you take.
take action before its too late.

scale with multiple channels and start re investing into other things.
because i know the day will come where you will make a post about getting shadowbanned and not having an idea what to do.

makes changes before its too late. high views or the views you expect wont last forever.
a friend of mine with good cotnent in animation went from 4M views a day to 300k views a day.
yes he is fucked.

the problem with you is you are a guy who wont take risks(just judging from your posts).
there is no point of keeping all eggs in one basket.
i know if your channel views die down, you will come crying here.
so before its too late i just advise you to scale with multiple channels so you wont have to worry later.
but remember that without taking risks, you cannot succeed/

i can feel you @Tribulations about what you said "luck" and i strongly believe that.
im currently going through that as well
their are soo many problems with youtube algo.
and i believe that "youtube algo is stupid".
its a strong statement, but here me out if you starting channel, youtube sends impressions and here the problem with that, youtube algo dont even know who to show the video,
they show videos to wrong users and your videos get low watchtime/ctr and video gets dead.

as @YoutubeGodFather said i have also scale to multiple channels from past 6 months and im getting 50 impressions and 2 views, posting videos everyday.
i have done soo much hardwork created 1000+ videos (still im gonna give one last chance)

aand i just believe in luck at this point.
