Low-quality back-links from spammy websites will not allow your website to rank on top of Google SERPs leading to no traffic. Secondly, make sure your website's content is updated with relevant, engaging, and optimized for your target keywords. First, you will have to analyze your competition with a tool like Ahrefs or SEMRush. I recommend finding Reddit threads about your topic and inserting a link in the comments redirecting your potential visitors to your website.
More likely Reddit subs are heavily moderated for spam links. so you might want to make sure that you're actually put value in your comments and the link should be relevant.
