Low competition keyword needed for autoblogs?

Hi guys, I've got a dozen of autoblogs already, some of my autoblogs revolves around keywords that have little and weak competition, others have keywords that are very competitive.
I've installed analytics and a bunch of other visual stat tools.
Most of the traffic I am receiving is coming from organic search results. But here's the funny thing, I am not getting the traffic because of my targetted keywords but because of some keyword that is present in the posts that my autoblog did.
And also, a lot of my autoblogs with high competition keywords get more traffic than the low competition keywords. I picked high competition keywords a few months ago because I did not know how to look for low competition keywords at that time...
I am now wondering, all those time I spent looking for low competition keywords, is it just for nothing? Is it the reverse? Should I look for keywords with high competition and high traffic instead of the keywords that have less than 10k exact searches a month and weak competition? I am thinking this way because probably, the shear bulk of the traffic that comes from the high competition/traffic keyword is making up for the fact that I am not ranking in big G?
To those who had previous success with autoblogs, I'd really appreciate it if you could present your experiences and opinions here....I'd only had about 20+ autoblogs (lack of experience and data to get an accurate conclusion) so it would really be great if you guys with 100 or more autoblogs would share your insights.

I would like to know as well. FWIW, I've solely been looking for keywords with low competition. I guess, the ultimate goal, is to rank on the first page of google since you want organic traffic that will come even when you don't do any work. This is the only way I can think of to do so, so ranking high is a must.

I just can't, for the life of me, find a keyword with relatively low competition, that still gets searches. Not to hijack the thread, but can anyone at least point me in the right direction of keyword research?

I've got about 40+ autoblogs running and I found the same result: I am getting traffic from random posts grabbed by wprobot, not the main keywords I was targeting. Makes it kind of tough to do keyword research when it ends up not mattering at all. I've tried to figure out the common pattern among my sites that work, but fuck if there aren't a bunch of variables and no clear answer. All I know is I am making money and it continues to rise so I'm gonna keep on doing what I am doing since it just works.
