Thinking I could get put another spin on my current income stream I thought I setup a blog and monetize my traffic. So far I got 900 visits on my blog and earned something like 0.30$... This is solid US traffic. Is this normal?

Well depending on your niche you could do some sort of affiliate type program. Even at just a 1% conversion rate that should be 9 sales per month if you are getting 900 visits per month.

Hmm yeah but I thought adsense would make something happen but... this seems like a low pay for adsense right? At first I couldn't think of any affiliate products but after your reply I gave it some serious thought and I've come up with something that I will be trying. It could be a winner as the banners actually add value for my users I think.

AdSense (or any other likewise method) requires quite massive amounts of traffic to be profitable. Sure that seems low, but I haven't used AdSense so I'm not familiar with their rates at all.

IMO affiliate products are the way to go. Maybe even CPA if your niche supports it.

A highly targeted affiliate product could earn you a ton of money. Don't forget to create a keyword/audience targeted post promoting the product (or service) offered on your banners.

If i got the same banner on a prominent place on my site all the time.. that's going to annoy readers right?

maybe, maybe not. You will suffer some ad blindness though.

Dude 900 views?

You need to have at least 200/day to get a steady income, keep boosting your SEO ranking.

And is your blog on page 1 on google?

It's only 2 months old with 40 posts I'm building it around a forum that I frequent anyway. Maybe I should actually start targetting specific keywords with my posts to capture some search. I expected my traffic to take more linkbait but that has been pretty slow so far. I might have to improve quality (though it's good already)

Absolutely normal in case if your blog is filled with text articles written by copywriters. These are usually too boring and useless to prevent the surfers from closing the blog while it hasn't been yet loaded. This type of blogs has a very big bounce ratio, so sooner or later they all end up under Panda hammer.

That's not normal. Its too low earning. I think you should try medianet. Its better and could have gave u 10$ for that 900

Interesting point. I do see difference in user engagement between posts and definitely see a pattern that when I offer clearly valuable information to them they stick around longer. Do you have suggestions to keep them on my blog longer with "boring" copy.

PM me your niche... if it is a good fit, maybe we can work out a guest post on my PR2 blog that is receiving over 60,000 views per month. Perhaps it could drive some traffic back to your blog and will also give you a solid link for SERP

Oops meant to quote this:

Depends on your niche. The most common way is to add some eye-catching media (e.g. related videos).

ok I will try putting up some video material.
