Have you ever woke up and you had no idea who you were? This happened to me this morning. I woke up, I didn't know where in the world I was (as in which city), didn't know who I was, didn't know what time it was (as in I didn't know when/how I fell asleep) I didn't know if it was morning or middle of the day. scary 10 seconds.

sorry about wrong category, I cant figure out how to move it to lounge.

Does Alzheimers or Dementia run in your family? If so, you may
have the beginnings of "Familial Alzheimers". If it continues, seek
medical help immediately. Early diagnosis and treatment is very
    important.

All jokes aside. Maybe your soul disconnected from your physical. People who meditate for long periods of time can separate and distinguish the two. Once I was able to separate body and mind, felt like a stranger in my own body.

Then by all means, consult with a physician.

Most people think that Alzheimers or Dementia only happens to elderly people,
but if there is a family history of Alzheimers/Dementia, it can occur at a much
younger age. It is not something to ignore.

Has this ever happened before? How old are you? Were you able to move, speak, and form complete thoughts during the episode? Any history of strokes/TIAs? What about concussions or other traumatic brain injuries? Was it really 10 seconds (ballpark)? Did you "come to" all at once, or gradually? Any other symptoms bothering you? Headache? Recent illness? Visual changes? When you fall asleep, how long does it take you, on average? Do you ever have visual hallucinations as you're falling asleep? Any history of alcohol/substance use the night before? What about in the past, say, two weeks?

For those who are posting wisecracks on this thread, you have NO IDEA
what a nightmare Alzheimers/Dementia is, otherwise you wouldn't be
making light of his situation. I know what it is all about when it comes
to Alzheimers/Dementia. My sister has it and let me tell you, it is a
real freaking Horror Show - both for the victim and the victim's family.

    Enough said before I lose my cool . . . :(

My grandfather had it, he died 2 years ago, I didn't fully understand it until I went to visit him and he didn't know who I was.

Its fucking horrible to watch, I would not wish it on anyone. I'm sorry to hear your sister is having issues, thats tough.

But... assuming OP is telling the truth, there are many more reasons as to why he forgot everything for 10 seconds or so.

Last month I woke up on a park bench in a town 40 miles from where I live and I didn't know WTF happened, how I got there, what happened or anything else.

I fell asleep with my head the opposite end of the bed one day and felt really disillusioned. It happens.

Theres 50 different causes of this, don't freak him out telling him hes going to suffer....

PS. I still don't believe OP. In 10 seconds he woke up, didn't know who he was, what country he was in, where he was or what happened and 10 seconds later it all came back. Nah man, BS.

Really? I feel like that sounds totally reasonable (and honestly, if it remains an isolated instance, not terribly concerning). For example, when I had a concussion and came to, I was incredibly disoriented for the first 15-30 seconds. I *did* remember who I was, but I was freaking out because I couldn't remember where I was or what day of the week it was or what I was supposed to be doing. After that, it came back to me. I asked several questions above that would actually be helpful to know the answers to. We'll see if OP responds.
