Lost a $1000 a month client over the stupidest thing

Yea you are right. Let me apologize to you, redubies and the forum.

I took her post as a personal attack and acted on it.

Working my way down the thread, I was thinking that you were one of the people we need more of on this forum; someone with experience and a good work ethic.

Until this:

You crossed the line.

You don't know RedRubies at all so don't start trying to undermine her.

Thank you. But I still can't get the word jewelry to stick for very long. lol

Again you fail to see that what I did was exactly what my clients expectations were set at. The end client was not giving those same expectations. What I did and my entire campaign was put on paper and was agreed upon by my client and their client.

My clients client did not give their client the same expectations that were given to them.

I have had my own business since 1987, and have had a house and raised kids as a single mother on my income from my business. I have been a guest speaker at women's forums and have helped many women start their own business. I don't need an office. A studio is sufficient. I deal with jewelry. My kids are grown. They still drive me crazy. I stand by what I said. You don't make a press release from generic info that you pick up off a website, and if you did that for me, I'd fire your behind in a minute. The only reason that I joined bhw was to get ideas on how to rank for the most difficult keywords in my niche, such as the word "jewelry." Then I got attached to this site and stuck around because I like the people here. I don't need marketing help.

The whole chain of agents is messy but I dont see how it was too hard to sit in a bit of a skype call.

The end user is the client. If a messy unprofessional press release went out then they are obviously embarassed by it and dont want it to happen again.

In my experience they would have only wanted to make direct contact a couple of times to make sure you were both reading the same script, after a few weeks of steady work they would trust you to do your stuff.

I tend to also work through layers of agents and distributors. Getting in direct contact with the end client is where the money is and I would consider it good fortune for this to happen.

The press release wasn't messy at all. It was written by one of my team members. We don't outsource anything. My client and my clients client loved it. Our process did not involve getting the end client to approve. If that was needed it was never relayed to us. Again we set our expectations from the start. I would lose money spending time being on that phone call. Again I think some of you fail to see that time is valuable and worth month. My time is actually worth more than that time spent on skype.

I still have no idea how people can re-sell "SEO service", why you know serp position is not permanent.
It always change due to Google update, it also risky, when your client web goes sandbox etc.

Not to mention, most SEO re-seller will mention "rank page 1 blabla in 1 month", just pay us $x,xxx.00 permonth.

How about if your client website still dosent hit page 1 in <certain target time> ??

Or maybe I miss something???

Really risky biz.

This is a bad experience. Well, a lesson is always learned after things like this. That could help you to retain clients who could bring businesses worth thousands of dollars in the future. Good luck
