Losing my domain, need to move a WordPress site to a different one

• So it seems I'm about to lose my current domain that I use on this WP site. I registered it on GoDaddy couple days ago and the next time I wanted to login I messed up login details or something, retrieved them back, but later got an email saying that I needed to upload ID documents proving my identity, otherwise the domain would get cancelled in 48 hrs (which is right about now). Well, the thingy is that I used fake name & surname when registering so I'm pretty much screwed.

• So if the domain gets cancelled how soon will it be for sal* again? I haven't yet published my site, so it's not the end of the world if I get a different domain, though.

• If I have a different domain how do I go about moving my WP site to a different one?

did you back up your site with duplicator, if you did then you can move it in a couple of minutes. You may still be able to register the name as they don't normally go onto the market until a grace period has gone ( differs with each registrar ). You can wait and buy the domain after the grace period as you site isn't live. I have done this myself as it's more expensive to re-register the name.

A little old but the steps should be the same for moving a wordpress site to a new domain.

All you need to do is go into the site /wp-admin before your domain expires. Go to Settings > General and change the domain in both places, click save. It will boot you out and redirect you to the new domain. You can then log in with the same user/pass as the old domain, but your site is now updated.
