I was wondering if any of you notice that whenever your twitter account gets flagged for twitter reverification, that your follower count will drastically reduce right after. Only when you verified by SMS or email, that the drop of followers immediately stops but it never gets back to the original count that you initially had even after a week?

I remember before they used to just make the Follower/Following count invisible to the public until you verify the account, but eventually in a day it goes visible and back to the original count for both Follower/Following.

Yea, the latter is pretty common, it happens almost all the time when an account gets locked. I've never seen the former happening though, at least not until now.

With that said, i don't work with too big accounts. I prefer smaller ones, but many.

So you don't actually lose followers, is it only that the counter doesn't seem to show all of them anymore? I see how this can still affect an account badly.

These Twitter counters were always buggy. I have a bigger personal acc with around 140k followers, once i deleted all of its tweets. The counter decided to give no fucks to this and still shows 200+ tweets, when i have only one tweet on the account for at least a year now or two.

I notice that too as you mentioned about the deleted tweets as Twitter seems to never update to the correct tweet count.

Indeed the twitter counter is so buggy. For my one large account (100k), I lost 5 k followers during that lock.

What sucks is that I have no idea which accounts that Twitter dropped in order for me to find out a commonality. I wonder maybe it was just coincidence that Twitter happened to purge inactive accounts at that time, but I never bought fake followers for that account. I guess Im just curious if others are seeing the same thing.

Right now I am keeping a list of my current followers so if it does happen again, I can figure which accounts Twitter is dropping next time I get locked.

some?ALL? lost followers (in my experience up to 3%) are unfollows

at least crowdfireapp has a "recent unfollows" feature where you can see this
