Losing External Links on Search Console

Hello there,

A week ago I am losing 30% of my external links on Google Search Console. I know if I am losing links after my traffic drop for 50-55%.

The ranked LSI keywords dropped hard, from position 1-5 to page 2-5. And thankfully the main keywords doesn't drop so much, only drop 1-7 positions.

Those links are coming from the domain, as I use an aged domain to build this blog. Almost no link building built by myself.

Is there any way to tell Google to re-crawl and index them?
Or the only way is by building more links?

Link count in Google search console is not accurate really. It updates in a weird manner and very hard to keep track of.

I just look at it for overall trend but otherwise use third party backlink checking and tracking tools.
 
What is ahrefs saying? Have you checked the backlinks using another tool? If not, you should. You should also get a report of your backlinks so that when they fall off, you can attempt to re-ping or re-index them.
 
Mine is not showing any backlinks, yet when I check in ahrefs, moz, and sem Rush, I have hundreds, some of which are very high da. and I used to show them when it used to be the old webmasters. I think it's jacked up myself and not reporting correctly

Ditto - out of everything I watch Search Console is the least accurate for links. I have loads of high DA directories, chamber of commerce links etc.......and almost none in Search Console. For me I just make sure the links are indexed by Google and then I run under the assumption that Google knows them whether they're in SC or not.

The best way I found to get all my backlinks indexed was to create a page on my site with "Find Us On The Internet" with all the links there to my backlinks (we're only talking 25-30 high quality links in directories and media/PR) , then requested a crawl of that page and Voila! , my backlinks were indexed in a matter of 24 hrs. Made zero diff to Search Console though.

I wouldn't care about GSC link count if it doesn't affect my ranking.
My ranking drops and then 3 days later I saw my external links on GSC dropped too.

And no, ahrefs doesn't show any backlink loss. And yes, those backlinks are still indexed but not showed on my GSC > Links

I just registered on Linklicious. And then I submitted all the backlinks that indexed by Ahrefs, sorted with UR. And then I choose One link per domain.
Then I submitted around 9K links at once.

Something won't happen if those are links are already on my GSC > Links, correct? as what I am thinking, I was trying to submit all indexed links by Ahrefs to ask Google to re-crawl them.

I loss thousands of backlinks, so there is no way for me to use your technique. Anyway thanks for the tips.
 
Submitting all at once is for sure a poor idea, unless you chosen dripfeed. This may fuck your rankings.

If all of them are in console, nothing will happen.

Ahrefs and console are very different, ahrefs updates months or days after something happened.

Have you checked, 9k whether they are live or not?

So what already in the console is what counted by Google, correct?

Those 9K backlinks are live, I checked them on Ahrefs and only download the live links.

What link indexer do you use? need a good (really good) link indexer.

it seems like link indexers don’t directly get them indexed, but rather just get google to crawl the link and hope for the best

there is a thread here that tested which service brings googlebot
 
Well, GSC is suspect in my opinion, because the old Google webmasters showed these links, as some of them are 7 years old. Then when they switch to the new console, literally zip!

My rank dropped then followed by some links disappeared from my GSC. This tells me that backlinks are considered as a ranking factor is on GSC.

Am I correct about this?
