Losing Coverage Of Pages In GSC

Hello BHW, a question for everyone, I work on a site with a few thousand unique products, 70+ original blogs, and the site is a year old; last few months, we started noticing our coverage of pages number was decreasing, and now, after a few months, we have lost 25% of our indexed pages...no manual actions, no security issues, the deindexed pages are falling into discovered not indexed, and most new pages take ages to index if at all.

Not a strong link profile, have a few quality links. I am not sure if this is a sitemap problem, a properties problem- www. versus domain issue, a google hates ous problem. I don't think our unique product pages are thin or low-quality content. They are product pages, not tutorials or essays. Our blogs are also original, no PBNS, it is a legit site.

Not sure what is causing this or what to do about it. We want to continue building the site and producing more content and unique products, but not while it's losing more than it's taking in. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

I'm not good at ecommerce, so I don't think I can help you, but... just an idea that crossed my mind: did the pages that disappeared from google's index get any traffic at all?

I have a feeling that google starts deindexing pages that don't receive traffic and only favors those that get traffic because.... well, because it's google and they don't always make sense.

Again, I'm not sure if my reply can help you in any way and you should wait for someone more knowledgeable for better advice, but still check the traffic that the deindexed pages have received since the inception of your site until they got deindexed. If they haven't received too much traffic, or any traffic at all, try running some social media campaigns (or even bot traffic) to those URLs for a month and see what happens. And if they had received traffic before... I don't know then

What's interesting is we have another site, similar products, and similar volume but its a slightly older site 6-8 months...the coverage there hasn't changed at all but it's on a different type of CMS

If you have pages appearing for their keywords try to boost them with some organic traffic. Also try to produce more articles and informative content.

yea we are pushing a blog article on some topic relevant

whats interesting is, I dont see any "big sites" with this issue, Etsy ranks just fine with skelton pages and ghost content for anything and even get 2-3 SERP positions in the ROW, some of those big sites even still ranking for things sold years and years ago that are out of stock, seems its only poor people with small businesses that are getting hurt here, but maybe that's the point, I would love to pay 150k for the upgraded gsc but they have to let you make that money in the first place to pay them for the upgraded advice and service

we write our own stuff and hire some out, not spun all original

I think you are trying to sell too much shit man. 70 posts, 1000 products...
I'd say dial the sales down a bit and add content to engage readers who will be buyers.

So, let me ask you this, we run a marketplace for unique products one of one, I get most people sell t-shirts or something, but for example, I don't recall an online book shop called Amazon being throttled and deindexed because they had too many titles on their marketplace. .sorry we are only allowed to sell a few hundred at a time because otherwise we are punished...I get half your statement...your right, writing 1000 blogs would help, but the too many products route is really to much, your probably right there is some penalty for new sites or something to limit their content, while the big whales are allowed to prosper and succeed
