So two different sites with the same content for a keyword ranking #4 and another site with the same content #5

lol wtf???

same content on both different sites ranking for 1 keyword

No link build at all

Then it's not duplicate content, it's syndicated content.

Duplicate content is when you have the same content on multiple pages on the same domain. ;)
 
It is like that for years, nothing special.. In the past for many keywords i had whole first page results filled with just my different domains having exactly same content

Ofcourse it doesn't happen for the competitive niches, but as long as your niche is making you enough money it doesn't hurt to dup things :)
 
A quality site will almost never get hit for duplicate content. The duplicate content penaly everyone fears is really a low quality site penalty.

You can rank duplicate content all day long.

I think that the targeted keyword is low competition.

Sometimes keywords with low competition can dominated without link building.
 
That's because you are targeting some low competition keywords

Ah this one, i had the same experience, i dont know why people keep on whining about duplicated content penalty and shit. Most of the time i only use copy/pasted content, but still rank like a mofo for some medium-high comp niches.
 
Syndicate contents will definitely get you ranking to some extent. But you have to keep some updates in mind too
 
yes, this can get you ranking but this must be very low competitive or no competition keywords, as it start getting traffic your sites will be taken down ITO ranking.
 
Its fun getting multiple top first page positions. Make sure that the content has video of a person so the viewer will convert into a sale.

not only on same domain, it is simply copy content if it occurs more than 1 time
