Looking to stream live from my site

Hey, I was wondering if any of you guys have real experience streaming your own content from your own site. So for example, you have a gaming site, and you want to stream weekly programs to your visitors, what software would you use? I mainly use Wordpress, but if there are other more robust options, please let me know.

I will currently use the VPS server that I am hosting my other sites on, which is Linux, but in the future, I might do this via my home server, which is Windows.

Please let me know if you currently do this, and what your rig is. I know some people might suggest Ustream, Justin.tv or something similar, but I want to go at it alone if possible. Thanks.

When I used gaming as my example, it was just as that, an example. I don't wish to let my niche be known, so that is the reason for this. The other part of your advice I will look at it now.

Xsplit looks REALLY nice. Wow, thanks. This is exactly what I am looking for. You can use your own server to do streams, which is great, and for $60, you can't go wrong. The part I like the most is you can configure things really easily, like drag and drop, for dummies like me.

I just watched the intro vid, so I will delve deeper into it to find out more about this.

***EDIT*** I noticed the prices are for "term" setups, like 3 month, 12 month, or 36 month. I was hoping this was a stand-alone software that you can buy and use at your heart's content. Maybe it is, but I can't find that option at the moment. Still, it looks great, and I guess I can try it for the 3 month term to see how it goes. But I do wish to find a stand-alone one still.

A free alternative to Xsplit would be Open Broadcast Software. Just as good and puts less strain on your system.
