Hey so im a huge fan of poker and decided i wanted to start spending time working on a website about poker and trying to monetize and promote it in tons of different ways .... problem is im decent but nowhere near good enough to start a website giving out poker tips Im curious anyone else got any ideas for a good gambling/poker related website I was going to make one reviewing all the online casinos but I wanted to make something a bit more captivating for my audicence!

That is it - giving tips and advices. Card tricks are also interesting content, presented in a video. Infografics would be your main trump here. If you want to make some money, a good idea is to provide your visitors with a gambling site reviews, or in other words - affiliate marketing. :)

pocket fives has a load of good content and affs

Giving tips and tactics always works and if, as you said, you want to make something more captivating, just add some creativity to it. For example, don't give tricks that everyone knows, but something really different and new. You can divide your site into newbies and pro sections, and submit different content there. Just think of what extra you can give to your audience. Don't try to reinvent the wheel, but you can definitely add some extra qualities to it. And as Blinky suggested, gambling site reviews can be a good start for affiliate marketing.

Hey Blinky,

I have some traffic I'm trying to convert and I haven't tried gambling yet. Can you recommend a good affiliate program?

I personally wouldn't go for a niche like that. It's very difficult to build links for web sites about gambling.

Take it from me. Poker is an incredibly difficult niche. Pokerstars own 95% of the market. Meaning you have very little room for negotiation when you are placing ads. Some people have suggested reviewing poker rooms, which is the main way people would monetize a site like this, but realistically you will struggle to compete with those that already do the same. Building backlinks for gambling sites is incredibly difficult. You will have a hard time getting close to page 1 for any terms worth anything. Based on what you have said I really do not think this is the niche for you. Please dont let that deter you though, I have been surprised before and likely will again!

Good luck with whatever you choose.

I actually know someone that can help with this, I'll send you a private message later today with more details.

It's true that you can make big $$$ in the poker niche, but it's almost impossible to rank. You would need a a lot money for marketing.

There is a new member here who is a Poker expert player, maybe he can help you

Agreed with Slim to rank for anything poker or casino in Google or Bing is probably one of the hardest niches. To the point of near impossible. But you could start facebook fan pages and try to target custom audiences that would work out much easier I think.

Yeaa I didnt think Id be ranking for the terms! I was planning on trying to convert fb traffic Ive seen some guys running some fb ads that gave me some ideas so i planned on starting there and branching from there

Theoretically that could work out. If it is a passion of yours then you may well be able to create more of a community site and monetize them by offering unique bonuses etc.. If you ever need any help or advice feel free to shoot me a pm. :)
