Hello,

I'm looking to start a local website creation service for busineses in my town. What I'm looking for is something like weebly or web but I want to be able to manage multiple sites using my one account. I want it to be ad free but have tons of templates to pick from and I want it so that lets say I make a customer a site pizzaintown.com I want them to have the email like [email protected] and then I want there website to be ad free and not branded with the website creators stuff.

I also need for it to have widgets and stuff that I can use to make there site better. I've been looking at https://sidengo.com/ at the moment as it seems to have everything I need.

Why not purchase a VPS or Dedicated Server and host your clients there. Charge them a monthly up keep fee. Charge them for a template from theme forest + customization. Charge them for a domain. Of course, the site would be run on wordpress so there are tons of plugins for whatever your clients might want.


That's my plan for the near future.

Why not pay like 25.00 or something monthly to be able to do that and have all the templates already there with a click of a button.
 
It really just comes down to personal preference. If we wanted to we could breakdown all the costs and calculate the profit of both renting a VPS and using a site like weebly.

I haven't heard of any other sites like weebly or web that have everything you want. I know of hosts that provide something like Cpanel that offers one click install of wordpress and once wordpress is installed it's easy to download templates and plugins. With hosts like these you can run multiple websites.

Keep all your clients in one group. Customers will all want something different using different back-ends, wordpress, joomla, OScommerce or a forum and combinations.. There are plenty of free templates. If they want 'custom' its a custom price..

This is going to be a local company, meaning I'm going to create sites for services in my town and surrounding for pizza places, doctor offices and more. It'll be pretty simple.
 
Can you reword what you're looking for specifically? I can think of a number of different meanings with what you're saying.

I'm looking for a service like webs.com or wix.com but I want to be able to create multiple sites all through one account and be able to manage those sites. I also want to be able to pay to remove branding and such as I'll be creating these sites for customers. I also need the option to either buy domains through them or use DNS.
 
All right, I think I get it.

You aren't a web designer or developer and as such want a service provided to you whereby you can easily customize a template based on the clients needs/wants. If that's the case, go with that sidengo service.

If that's what you're after, I strongly advise you to rethink what you're doing. Us freelancers will eat you alive.
 
Do you realise how much crap code you end up with from those WYSIWYG websites?
Once your clients have a site they'll want traffic, the first SEO they go to will tell them to
start with a new site.
May as well just build it with Microsoft Publisher.
I get people all the time saying they'll use 1&1 it's got built in SEO it says so on the ad.

Hm.. I don't want to provide people with a bad website. Is there anything I can do just via hosting, like buy reseller hosting and then install it maybe using wordpress or another CMS.
 
It's clear you're just kind of starting out, otherwise all of your questions would have never been questions. Master your craft before trying to get people to pay for it. If you don't, you won't last long in the market compared to proper designers who know what they're doing.

Now you are thinking.
The problem you will experience with offline clients and reseller hosting is the want to mess about in cpanel and end up calling you back to fix their site.
I go with an unlimited plan, throw up wordpress and give them a limited permission admin role.

Hm.. I mean I know how to use cPanel I've been using it for a while and I can work very comfortably in it. I'm going to think this over more. Thanks for the tips.

I think I'm going to buy reseller hosting from a trusted host, throw up a main site and then make it look nice and show people some examples of what I could create for them.
 
I am in a similar position like you but with different progressing.

I target the small business. I rent a VPS and install WPMU. I have various themes base on my niche targets such as Dentist, Lawyer, Gadget Shop, Jewelry or many others. Those themes are option ready to easily customization so that my clients or I could customize them easily.

This is an approach to provide affordable price to the clients. If the clients need the exclusive and custom, I'd go for another reseller, VPS or Dedicated Server as well as custom site for them.
 
The idea of using Themeforest templates is a good one. Another main thing to keep in mind is your pricing. Your pricing should reflect the amount of "work" you put into it. Also, from my little bit of offline experience, most people/companies that don't already have a website by now probably are not that interested in making changes to the site themselves. I've told clients that I'll host everything on my godaddy account, and if they decide they don't need me anymore they can pay to transfer it off (it's not that expensive).

I feel as if I explain why they should have a website and the benefits to it It'd be good.
 
if you are looking for a professional website, i can suggest hostgator as your hosting provider. they have prompt service. You can watch my blog hosted in host gator.
 
Get a VPS, Amazon EC2 will do fine. Make a folder called themes, one called plugs and install wordpress for each customer. Make a symbolic link to your themes and plugins folder and your done. You can charge them a mint for website creation and it will take you an hour each customer.
