Hello BlackHatWord,

My name is Charles, I'm a journalist working on a feature about paid youtube views and the traffic exchange industry. I'm looking for someone who has experience in both sides of the 'transaction' - someone that sells the views and someone that buys the views. Where will you be publishing the results of your investigation?
 
You should reword this as interview not investigation its not very appealing.

Commissioning editor at a few publications have shown interest. I'm in contact with VICE, The Guardian & Huck Magazine.

I would think the concern of those you want to interview would be that their methods would be exposed and that YT would find some of how they were being exploited and close those exploits thus making it harder for them to get gamed.

I do not do much on YT so my knowledge there is mostly second hand (I did learn a ton form the guy that sells Easytube and play some in that sandbox) but the real players that are spending money on YT views and the guys that have quality services are probably not going to be all that comfortable sharing.

Just some thoughts from an outsider.

I can't guarantee it as that will be up to the editor of the pub. But when I submit it I can definitely push for it to happen.

This is a concern that I completely understand, however the angle would be less aimed at how they do it and more on the larger impact/story. I think a surprising amount of people are unaware of the growing traffic exchange industry and I'd like to get some anecdotes/quotes/stories from the 'experts' in the industry. Nothing overly indepth....for now.
 
So with the publicity around your interview, it could only force Google to make it harder for us to do IM right ?

Perhaps, but I don't think one small article will really change the course of things. It's constantly evolving, doubt this will make a dent. It's more about giving an insight into the world of IM and probably have as much chance of bringing in new custom than taking it away.

I think some of us feel that speaking to a journalist about this 'industry' seems like an invitation for unwanted exposure.

Imagine this: You walk into a meeting room and everyone is talking about what methods they could use to push for a politician to win an election. To them, it doesn't really matter if their methods are ethical or unethical — it's all fair play to them as long as their candidate wins. You ask them, "Hey guys, could I interview you guys about your methods and post it online on very popular websites?" Do you think everyone will be jumping to help you? Probably not since they don't want the whole world finding out about their dirty or clean methods.
