Looking into Media Buys, is this the right start?

I'm sick of spending my money on SEO and not seeing any results, so I want to get into media buying but not really sure where to start. I've read a few threads on here and think I have a basic idea.

1. Find a product to promote, CB/CPA
2. Sign up for a media company like SiteScout
3. Find relevant sites to buy ads on and rotate different banners to find which one works
4. Profit

I know it's a lot more work than that but I'm willing to try. Are there any sites like SiteScout that require a lower than $500 min deposit just to get my feet wet? I have no problem though investing $1000 to start. Also I see some CB products offer banners to use on there site, I'm sure these have already been seen a million times so is it worth even trying these or do I need to create my own.

Any good e-books you recommend reading for a total noob like me? Any help is greatly appreciated.

That's pretty much it - I just started last month with sitescout and clickbank, doing pretty good nothing spectacular but yes it is A LOT better than relying on SEO

I would test out the vendors banners aswel as making you're own to fit the "theme" of the website - you will most likely notice your own banners out perform the vendors

What do you look for in a good CB product to promote? I've had a CB account but have never promoted anything on there.

You're looking for a good landing page who converts good.

sitescout is huge bro thats like for the pros but if you want to learn media buys you should opt for direct media buys which is research for websites in the niche you gonna promote and then contact the owner of that website and so on, there are tonnes of guides on this form of marketing.

That might be a better way to start. With this type of advertising is it better to target blog type sites or forums with active members?
