If you want good quality writers, you would need to up your price a bit, but for beginning writers it's ok. No one can survive on $5 an article, even if you wrote 100 per week you would soon burn out. But it's a good learning curve for beginning writers. That's where I started, and I slowly raised my price as I gained experience. I'm now getting paid $25 per article.
