Looking for someone to fix w3c errors

For a wordpress site.

Site currently has 176 errors and 167 warnings.

I'm not looking for perfection, I understand not all errors can be fixed but would like to tidy the code.

Obviously If I am handing my site over to someone I will have a bit more trust for people that have been around here a while. Nothing to do with post count or rep just someone who appears trustworthy.

Pm your price and when you can start on it.

if your blog is rendering ok in all browsers you dont need to validate ur html

Yeah, I agree with you. Validating code is not essential and doesnt have an impact on seo.

However there is a part of me that feels it cant be helping to have nearly 200 errors and even if it only makes a minute difference, its something I should try and rectify.

Have you got extra plugins and widgets on the site?
What theme are you using?
How many errors do you get with the default theme without any plugins?
Then try validating each time after installing each plugin one by one.
You could probably minimise most of the errors by changing theme/plugin, if you need certain functionality then it might be better to have a custom theme or plugin coded.

HTML5 validation is only experimental at this point.

i remember in my first IM attempt i had scraped a fresh closed movie site from g cache.it was full of errors, 2k or something and ranked n1-2 on site name keyword.

Well the site is built using Elegant themes themes the source. It has a number of plugins installed.

Its an old site so has had lots of little modifications over the years and every time I tinker with it that adds a few more errors.

It has ranked solidly for five years. Yesterday it took a slap. I am not checking errors for that reason as I am not too worried about the latest update. One way or the other I will get back. However I am looking at tiny improvements I can make to the site.

All indications are saying its probably not worth the hassle. I will try that unplugging plugins and see what I find out.

Make sure you do a full backup first.

You will have to UNINSTALL the plugins then validate with just the theme and see what errors show up.
Then reinstall the plugins one at a time, validating after each install.
It should help determine if any one plugin is causing the errors.

But I wouldn't worry too much, put Google or Amazon into the validator and they throw up loads of errors and warnings.

i am also using ET, and when I first started using WP I saw this (hundreds of errors). I thought I am doomed, didn't know how to fix this and didn't have a clue where those errors are. But nowdays I don't think about that anymore, it is pointless and it does not afeect rankings, I do not get any warnings from Google or anything like that....no need to waste your time with that imo

It can be done, probably quite a long job with Wordpress though (much more places to seek out the errors).

Also I believe it is important - even if you think your site works in "all" browsers, I doubt you really have tried them all.

also I believe it does play some role (although small) in ranking factors.
