Looking for some help

I have embarq dsl with dynamic ip. I have been unplugging and plugging my phone line to get a different ip. Sometimes takes awhile though for my ip to change. I've read and tried different methods to change my ip. I can get into my wireless router and dsl modem online. I just need someone to actual walk me through the process so i can see if it will actually work. I've been told to get verizon or att dsl but its unavailable in my area.
