I just changed shopping carts from zen cart (we used for last 8 years) to magento. Me and my partner are looking for someone to help show us best practices and a walk around of magento.

I would highly recommend you go with a experienced hosting company that knows Magento. Stay away from any of the general hosting companies as they will give you nothing but fits. Always, always, run a development version of your live site so that you don't screw up your live site with a extension or other change you can't easily recover from. Look at the cache extension opportunities available for the CE version and install one of these. Optimize your site by running one of the many speed test programs. It will tell you the "heavy hitters" to fix to optimize your site for speed and performance. Don't believe any of the naysayers that complain you can't optimize Magento for speed. Good luck with your decision.

I second the hosting companies that specialize in Magento. That's going to be a huge part of making a Magento store work well.
