Looking for help not handouts

Hello everyone,

I found this site about two weeks ago and I have been reading through the forums since then. I have seen plenty of posts and questions where the poster said something along the lines of "I am new here, please tell me exactly what to do to make thousands a month." To which every experienced user posts "use the search" or "read the forums".

I understand that no one is going to hold my hand and lead me to a pot of gold and I am willing to read every post on BHW, but so far it seems like the knowledge is scattered to the four winds. So without asking for everyone to lead me to a fortune, I would like to ask, is there any place that I can start to make some money? I would prefer that it was something I could start small and scale up in the future. What is the easiest thing to start with and learn as I go? Area of focus? What has worked best for everyone?

Use the search function or read the forums........ Just kidding :D Try amazon. Thats a pretty good place for beginners and vets alike :)

I like the Amazon idea, but i'm still open to other ideas if someone has another suggestion.
 
I understand and thank you for your advice, I was just wondering if there was an area that would be easier for a newbie to start with. By that I mean what should I try to read or what area should I focus on?

I would recommend adsense, if you can throw together a decent website. Some choose to just use articles to bring in good paying ads. Once you have the site and adsense running, create a facebook page to help drive traffic to your site in hopes for some ad clicks. Simple for noobs and very small investment.
 
If you have only just started in IM, most people take years of trial and error methods before they find that one thing that makes them money. If you are looking for a quick route, I doubt you will find one no matter how much you read. IM needs to be perfected and is only perfected by learning by your own mistakes. ie don't trust Paypal with a penny.
 
Thanks, but what I meant by my first post was that I am not looking to get rich this second, I am willing to work at it. I am not sure if I am making sense, but I am just looking for advice on where to start my years of trial and error learning. I was in the Army for 7 years and in that time I learned a lot about hard work. I plan to apply that same work ethic to IM, but I also learned to work smarter and not harder. That is why I am asking advice from the veterans because there is so much information on this site that it can be a little overwhelming trying to find a place to start. Plus there are also some methods that do not work well anymore.

if you start with adsense, do not spin content for your site. write original content. use wordpress for your website if you start a blog or somthin. Or if you need a free website editor use BlueGriffon. start by reading up on SEO. And here is a little something to get your creative juices flowing>>> http://www.thinkwithgoogle.com/insights/facts/ and use google as much as possible!
 
IMO the best way to start your trial is make a site. Can be about anything really but just nothing super low competition. Take this project as a way to learn.

So a few things to do:
Keyword research for the niche you pick
Domain buying, aged, with pr?
What cms if any?
Can you write your own posts?
Do you understand seo, on site and off?
Monetize via adsense, cpa, content locking, sell your stuff, etc
Make your social stuff, facebook, twitter, etc
Promote your site via social, link building, offline, media buys, etc
Test methods and improve

Just try a bit and through your trials, you can learn everything you need. These are not absolutely necessary. But do your research here on BHW and get better and better. Many people start from 0 and work there way from there. Don't be afraid to take action and lose a bit of money. Take action and don't lose focus on goals

How do you guys choose a niche market? I know that no one is going to tell me what market they use that's fine, I just mean what tools do you use to determine if a market is over saturated? Or if the people are actually spending money?

I keep hearing sex sells, but it seems like everyone in IM has already done that over and over. Any advice?

Personally I feel that you should ignore difficulty with your first project. Pick something that you can write about and if it is difficult to rank then it will get you out of the common thinking of blasting to #1. Start with something that you will treat as your baby. Love it and help it grow. NO low quality content or backlinking.

First, you should educate yourself with a proper knowledge before attempting any method on BHW.
Spend some time reading educational material on marketing, consumer psychology, persuasion etc (e.g. Cashvertising, Ultimate Sales Letter, Pyscho-Cybernetics to name a few).
Those educational books are the real gems of marketing in general since it you'll use it in every method you try later on.

After that, you can decide which IM path you want to take (webmaster, domainer, media buyer, SEO consultant, lobbyist, ads trader, product owner etc). Then, test out simple method that suits your capacity and scale up from there.
Don't just jump into a hole and then pray that it isn't deep.

Starting by building a site would be a overwhelming challenges and may be too much for newbie.
If you don't have technical expertise, never ever try it on the first attempt unless you are willing to spend some money for learning purpose.
If you are learning and doing everything from A-Z by yourself, it will consume great time and effort then later come the frustration.
