Why not beat the streets?
Find in your area the apartments that have mass move ins & outs. Around local colleges is perfect and very lucrative. Large hospitals have med students that have to do their internship and will be moving soon. College towns like Austin you will see in the apartments advertising "short term leasing".
Take your panties off and scratch your rasins cause you have created a cold call list of your new customers that need you. Your attitude is they need you and in fact they do! Soon they will get wind of your fabulous service and suddenly your phone rings.
Walk into the front office to speak w/ the manager. For me this is where I could sound like a bumbling idiot because most apartment managers are hot. After 1 or 2 idiot sales calls I'd settle in. In genneral, properties only payrole a few people and can't handle the mass move out/ins. Apartment managers are taught to slash operating cost. Some points to make to the manager/s is how it benifits them $$$. My #1 hook was back then and probably even more so now is no payrole tax, workmans comp, insurance...
Offer to clean a 1 bedroom no charge.
So where the hell was I going with this. Well, start cleaning for apartment complexes when people move out clean ->grow ->learn ->scale. There is a lot more to it but it's not like just cleaning your home and if you decide to get into other services they need...
Cash or check upon completion until you can handle chasing checks.
I can expand more if needed but I have already gone into 1hr of my 2hr alotted tax figuring time.
Get your favorite bucket, brush, mop, broom, plugin radio and cleaner (ZeP is best).
Make it happen you no longer work for your exgirl.
