Link building is still effective , but the biggest mistake beginners make is focusing only on cheap metrics like DA/DR. Before buying links,always check if the website has real traffic, relevant content, and proper indexing in google. start with safer methods like guest post,niche edits on relevant sites and branded mentions instead of spammy bulk links.

link building still has value but chasing high da or dr alone can lead you in the wrong direction.a site can show nice numbers and still have almost no real value so i would check its organic traffic topic relevance and whether google is actually indexing its pages.before spending much money it is better to build links from related websites through useful guest content niche placements and natural brand mentions rather than going for large numbers of low quality links.

tbh you also need to look at their outbound links... if a site looks decent but is linking to sketchy casino or essay spam in other posts, stay away. also keep your anchor texts natural, overoptimizing them is the easiest way to get penalized.
