Looking for free sitemap generator

I usually use a wordpress plugin, however I have someone that has asked me to create a sitemap for their php based site. I tried to use several different generators however once I uploaded the file did not show up. I was wondering if anyone knew of I used xml-sitemaps(dot)com. It showed up fine as far as I could tell on my computer though in the first paragraph area there was a red line of text. I went ahead and saved it and then uploaded to the website's root folder. However it does not seem to be showing up. Does anyone have a free minutes to take a look? It is probably something very simple.

The sitemaps are showing up on my computer but not when I upload them. Then I get a 404 error and I know it is installed at the right place so I am so confused. I can install this sitemap on other websites but not this one. Does it make a difference if when it goes to the website it goes to domain-name.com/index.php?lang=en Would that affect the sitemap?
