Looking For Advice

Hello my business partner and I launched a new mens accessories website. We are in the process of trying to setup a CPA (Cost-per-action)/Ambassador program. Initially our thought was to find individuals with a social media presence to help sell and promote our products and every sell they make, they receive a commission and depending on how many sells a month that commission goes up and they receive free products as well. My questions are as follows.

1) Is this something that people still do and is it effective, if so what is a good commission to offer for mens clothing/accesories line?
2) Ive tried contacting MaxBounty and PeerFly with no luck, I did get a "we can definitely work with you" and nothing after that from peerfly. Is there other companies that offer a similar service?
3) Should we start something in House, I am a decent we developer and could easily setup a commission based system for users.

I appreciate your help and any direction you can send me.

I am a web designer if you need some help hit me up. ConvertingLayouts.com. You want to have a website in place for sure that has the affiliate commissions setup. My only thing is, how much commission can you possibly offer on an item that needs to be created, shipped, etc? That's a lot of costs to consider. For affiliate programs you're looking at 10-20% commission for your customers and affiliates. Affiliates usually like to see 30%-70% commissions.

Our website is shop wooden bow ties and for our affiliates I wouldn't mind offering 30% - 50% commission. But I am just curious what the standard is for my industry (if there is one). And if there is a source to find people that are affiliates or brand ambassadors.

I would say 40% is more than fair. I haven't really heard of affiliate in clothes, but this is very interesting. If you implement it be sure to hit me up, I know a few people who'd be interested in men's fashion items

Ok great, I am in the process of ironing out all the details. We will be launching new products in June so it will likely start then.
