    Hi guys (and gals!),

I think this project will be better for someone who is Canadian, but I don't mind working for someone who is outside of Canada. In any case I have a website (actually, just a domain so far) and I want to get a person who is good at WordPress coding to help me out in this project.

What I want to do is get 100,000 Canadians to donate $10 (total of $1,000,000) and 100% of the proceeds will go to Cancer Society of Canada. I want to email PayPal and set up something with them because I know that if you get to many transactions, they close your account unless you tell them that you will have a lot of transactions upfront.

Plus I want to go on Monday to the bank and set up an account, so the money from PayPal will go directly to the bank account, and state rules that I am only able to touch the bank account if I want to donate money to the Cancer Society of Canada, any other reason (transferring money to my bank account, or transferring money to other charity) will not be allowed.

In return, the only I can really do is give you a "thanks" on top of the page, and maybe if 100,000 (minimum) people visit the site you will end up getting other gigs and maybe get hired by someone?

Also the website will be kinda similar to milliondollarhomepage, but with Facebook profiles. What I mean by this is when a person donates $10, they will have an option to go 'silent' (which means that nonthing about them will be displayed) or they have an option of adding their Facebook link, which in return will display their picture on the website for as much as it'll take to reach 100,000 members.

In any case, I think it should be a fairly easy project for someone who knows how to code WordPress? Plus it is going for a good cause!

... Nothing blackhat, nothing whitehat, no profit will be made from this... Just something good from your heart.

No? No one is really interested in this?

Hmm.. Maybe I'll try again in a couple of days, since everyone here in Canada are out celebrating (P.S. Happy Canada Day!)

What is the point of your site? Why shouldn't the people just directly donate to the Cancer Society?

Well to tell you the truth not a lot of people do it on their own really. There is always charity fund raising events to build awareness and get people to donate. In a lot of cases a person won't donate by themselves, but if they see other people doing it, then they will donate.

Plus, on this site, when they donate, they can sign in with their Facebook, and their facebook picture will stay on the site for as long as it takes tor each $1million.

+ It will build a lot of awareness, which in return will get people donating even more money by themselves and then maybe other countries will join and do the same project.

I am going to guess that most people won't pay $10 to get their pic up on some website, since most people kind of want to preserve (the illusion of) their privacy.

    1. You would probably be better off making a facebook page to do this.

    2. There are better ways to get money from this topic.
    - try making a mini facebook app with "gifts" or some such nonsense and then sell "credits" to get better pics.
    - try gifts in exchange for donations (a nice design works great for this, use zazzle or cafepress for fulfilment).
    $10 donation = keychain, $25 = tshirt, etc...

    3. If you really want to do this on your own website, make an informational website try to get a little PR (PR3 isn't too hard and will make this interesting) and then sell the 100,000 spots as permanent links ala milliondollarhomepage.

This doesn't exist, unless you set up a trust... and bank accounts aren't free. (you are trying to make yourself seem more "legit" by limiting the bank account? It won't really work, people who distrust you anyway will just assume you are lying).

Just transfer the money directly from paypal to The Cancer society.

If you are thinking of making money from "float", you have some serious tax, business and bank account issues to work out... and that won't work with a trust account.

If you really want to make this work, you should not just put "Cancer Society" - make it personal, add in heartfelt sob stories....

<<Pic of little girl>> This is little girl, she has terrible cancer and needs treatment urgently, etc... Please help little girl and all other cancer victims...

<<pic of woman>> This was my mother who died from Cancer when I was young, please help so this doesn't happen to other people...

OBVIOUSLY, do NOT just make stuff up if you are planning on trying to get some publicity. Get real stories of real people (there are unfortunately, plenty of people with stories you can use).
