Hey everyone,

I’m currently using SEranking, which works fine but comes with 100+ extra tools I never use. I’m only interested in checking keyword rankings for my own projects — ideally once per week.

I have up to around 1000 keywords total across all projects, so I don’t need anything enterprise-level. Just something simple, accurate, and affordable.

Does anyone know a good lightweight tool for this? Or has anyone here built (vibe coded) their own basic keyword rank checker app?

Would really appreciate any recommendations or experiences!

For simple weekly keyword checks, try RankTank, FatRank or SERPRobot. Easy, Fast and no extra Clutter.
 
For a simple, affordable weekly check of up to 1,000 keywords try tools like Small SEO Tools Keyword Position Checker, Seobility, or Ahrefs’'free rank checker. They're easy to use, accurate and don't come with unnecessary extras.

You don't need something as big as SEranking if you only want to keep track of your own keywords. For weekly rank checks, I recommend using software like SerpRobot or Mangools SERPWatcher. Both are easy to use, cheap, and accurate. If you know how to use technology, you can also make your own rank tracker utilizing Google Sheets and the Google Search Console API. This is a terrific light-weight option.
 
Know what you mean about tools with too much fluff. For your specific needs, especially only 1000 keywords, rolling your own solution is a solid bet. You get exactly what you want without the extra baggage, and it'll be far cheaper in the long run. Just a simple script can pull it off.
 
For a simple and cheap rank checker, you can try Grank or Flexitools. They are easy to use and good for tracking up to 1000 keywords. Ahrefs Webmaster Tools is also free and useful if you want more details.
