Looking for a marketplace platform

Hi guys,

I have a few ideas to start a marketplace, do you know any platforms / templates that I could use to validate the business model?

I've been looking at some Wordpress platforms but I'm not 100% sure if that is the right choice.

I'm looking for something that would allow me to run something like Etsy... you know, classic marketplace model.

Just something like etsy, but focused on digital goods, digital downloads

Hi,

I would suggest to look into LINE Stickers, it is a relatively new market platform (open since May 2014) and the competition is low while there is a lot of demand within countries like Japan, Thailand, Taiwan and opening markets now in Europe and other APAC.

It is very easy to enter, does not require a large amount of investment and the return is quite decent. I have been working on it for the past few months and I am seeing a lot of growing potential and great results.
 
If you want to start a digital market place then "Checkout" would be a good option as it assists to create a digital store with wordpress. However, you can also use 'stocky' to get elegant themes.
 
For digital goods there is 1 types of custom PHP script and for product there is another types of custom PHP script. 1st think what types of marketplace are you looking to build?. Then you may let me know. I may able to help you with this.

Do you want to create your own new and unique business model for digital marketing place? If your answer is yes then you'll have to work hard on it otherwise, you can copy the business model of Amazon, Best Buy or eBay.
 
Your business model should be very attractive as in digital business industry you will face a tough competition and you'll compete giant competitors. :p
 
Best two options I can think of are:

1. opencart. Allows you to add stores for users.

2. Phpprobid. Auction software, but allows you to run a stores site where people create an account and open a store like on ebay.
 
Man, to be honest with you somebody will for sure do it sooner or later, but this will take so much time and efforts so I would recommend you doing it only if you have loads of money and time to spend. Wonderful idea by the way, this could be a success, but takes a lot to get there.

Some really good options given here. Will definitely be having a look at it when I plan to open up a marketplace in the future
