Looking for a Dedicated Server for very high traffic Wordpress sites

I have a dedicated hosting account at HostGator and I am hosting 16 Wordpress websites on that server. Frankly 8 of them have a very high traffic load and for the last month I am getting "database connection" errors about 3 or 4 hours a day.

I simply edited the Wordpress themes, disabled and removed all the useless plugins I may but nothing helped. I have some plugins for SEO and they rely on cron jobs but I need them to continue the traffic.

I have contacted the support, opened tickets and nothing changed. After a month's research they told me that Google Bot connections make a high load on the server and gave no solution.

I have some questions and I am open to your ideas really.

1. Can you recommend a reliable and fast dedicated server which will solve my problem?
2. Hosting on a litespeed server is better or not? If yes is there a litespeed dedicated hosting service that you can recommend?

you may be on dedicated and while each site uses a different database they all read from the same sql server. try moving some of the high traffic sites to VPS and see if it makes a difference.

What I would do is create as many VPSs that the dedi can handle and go from there.

@ OP you probably need a server with SSD or SAS drives. SQL server uses a lot of IO and thus regular server with 7200 rpm drives will always be a bottle neck. Let me know if you need help with a server, we have some high performance server available.

What kind of traffic is that? I mean they watch movies on your site or play games? Or just come and read some articles and go away? I have sites that get 1000 uniques a day and eat up 2-3GB of bandwidth and a lot of resources while some get more visitors and still don't consume that much of bandwidth/resources.

Also, are you already on a dedicated server? If yes, what are the specs of the server?

I would recommend you Leaseweb.
They have the fastest servers.

I got my dedicated server within 5 minutes of order.

Also, Nginx is better than litespeed.

Try the wp-cache plugin to bring down the load.
