Longtime Lurker Finally Posting

Hey everyone,

LONG time occasional lurker here. I joined quite a while back when I was in high school creating my first business, a web hosting company, but never got too involved with anything here. Fast forward 10 years through college, some small online endeavors, and a few normal jobs, and I am currently working as a marketing director for a real estate brokerage, but also moving into some freelance stuff on the side.

Financial stability and a quality job that is IM focused has me interested in exploring some of the less common areas of this industry to sharpen my skills and increase my abilities... however that comes about.

BUT, my entrepreneurial spirit keeps urging me to pursue some of the ways I might become self-sufficient and one day enjoy a lifestyle that is entirely created by myself. Being my own boss and self-sufficiency are some of the ultimate factors in a satisfying life for me. Considering this, it was inevitable I found my way back here looking for some of the ways in which I might realize these goals.

I think most everyone here was a lurker before joining.

I'm curious about your first business, what happened?

Sorry if I'm nosy but you don't have to reply if you feel uncomfortable. It's just that I think we all could learn something from that venture.

No worries, I'm pretty open! I built it up to a pretty decent monthly revenue for a high school student and sold it for somewhere around $12k if I remember correctly. I then used that to purchase my first car and a gaming computer!

He means he joined in 2010 but did not get the chance to contribute but was going through the awesome stuff being posted on BHW

This is correct! Lots of awesome stuff here, but never took advantage of things fully nor did I contribute. I do hope to learn more of the non-standard SEO and IM techniques. I think this stuff is so important now because of the level of competition there is out there. Everyone involved in or running a business knows what SEO is nowadays compared to a few years ago where very few of your average people did. I don't know how many digital marketers even knew much about SEO and focused on it 10 years ago.

TBH, I barely remember registering and every time I have been back over the years, it was usually a referral from google and I didn't sign in. Tried to register a few days ago, but my email already had an account. Reset the password and here we are. Wish I could change my username, as my hosting company "HossHost" is no longer even slightly a thing at all. I guess I'm stuck with it for a little while until I can upgrade.
