Hey bhw! Discovered this site a few years ago and due to my circumstances I have decided its a good idea to try and dive into
this stuff.
I got into computers and programming when I was pretty young, and I ran a paid-to-click site in highschool.
Ended up being this ptc owner's like go-to cheap worker. I was happy earning like 10 bucks and learning, and he was happy to have a problem solved.
Ended up giving me free hosting to run my own site, and I ended up making 400 dollars selling anti-bot scripts I custom developed for the site.
It was a huge problem at the time and I was able to work out how to prevent them, and re-patch each month. Looking back, that 400 could of easily been
more like 4000 :/
The last year or so job hunting has sucked, and I landed a small gig for a past RL acquaintance doing TONS of work for like $100 a month. It wasn't event really good learning. Slot on the resume I guess.
So now that's over, and soon I won't have internet If I don't pay the bill! arg. So I've been searching and applying, trying to find ways to make money.
I know some ways that work. Ways i've used before. But I don't know of anything I can establish and get payed enough to continue an internet connection to continue earning
.
STRESS!
I'm somewhat interested in niche blogs and such things. Starter newbie things I've not tried before.
But the main reason I signed up is I see a lot of tools here, and I think I have the skills to make some. I just hope I can do it and get return within the month ahaha. I can very well write them offline, hell I know an exploit with my isp that would allow me to do url scraping and such, but a giant list of proxies/leads/content wouldn't help me one bit if I can't use it. I got bored one day with no internet connection and started poking at their servers... lol.
They shut the internet off, but not the modem
Anyway, I want to be a positive software contributer. I'm intelligent, nice, have a good head for code.
I'd like to distribute free applications of good quality. Trying to monetize those without charging an upfront fee or require users to fill out 200 page surveys
is something I'd really appreciate information on!
Whelp, thanks if you read my long intro. I'm in a chatty mood. Found a site with tons of proxies on it, so i'll write a scraper for it as a first project.
Confident in my abilities, yet in unfamiliar coding territory :]
