Long time lurker

Hello, long time lurker here and want to put some of my skills to use. I'm fluent in HTML/CSS/PHP/MYSQL and I'm looking into niche websites, is there a guide out there somewhere? To my understanding niche websites cover a very specific topic and is saturated in ads for maximum revenue. Would google ads work for this or is there another ad service that does this better?

You dont seem like a long time lurker, these are pretty newbish questions, just read some threads.
