Chasing trends can offer short term visibility, while consistent branding supports long term growth.
In your view, how should these two approaches be balanced?

I see trends as a tool, not a strategy. Consistent branding and messaging should be the foundation, while trends can be used selectively when they actually fit the brand and audience. That way you get short-term visibility without confusing people or diluting long-term positioning

@naylor93 nailed the core - trends are just distribution hacks. Branding is what stays when the algo flips + the trend dies. I’ve seen sites ride trends for spikes but if there’s no consistent offer + voice underneath, traffic converts like trash. Use trends to pull attention into a stable funnel, not to redefine what you are every month.

Look, I think following trends and having a consistent brand is like a balancing act. On the one hand, trends can give you a quick boost and get people talking about you, but if you get too caught up in them, you can lose sight of what truly makes you unique. Ideally, you should find those trends that really fit with who you are as a brand. For example, if your brand already has a focus on sustainability, and you see a trend toward eco-friendly products, well, that's gold! You can leverage it to strengthen your image without losing your essence. And, of course, it's always good to listen to your customers. They'll tell you what they like and what they don't, so it's worth paying attention to their opinions. In the end, while trends are great for attracting attention, the most important thing is to think about the future and how all of this will help your brand grow and keep people loyal in the long run. So, in short, you have to be smart about blending the new with what you already have.

Depends on j the ultimate goal
This days, even long term branding needs the short term trend to keep engagement

Trends help you stay up to date, but branding should remain the main driver of how you show up and grow.
