Hi Guys

quick question, hopefully simple to answer

im in the process of building my first site and i want to get it ranked (obviously)

am i correct in thinking i should be targeting alot of long tail keywords and then building backlinks for each page?

I rank for my main keyword and add a couple Long Tail Keywords to rank for, I build backlinks to each of my pages. It may seem time killing, but it works out in the end for the rankings.
 
I would target both, you deff want focus on main keyword for traffic, but going for long tails is also good for targeted traffic, people often forget about the long tails but its still a good working strategy.
 
For my sites in niches with high competition for the main keyword I focus mainly on long tail keywords but still work with the main keyword. I find that getting multiple LTKW ranked high also helps with the main KW.
 
Long tail rankings naturally happen around main keywords. You can build out very very specific pages for a keyword and attempt to rank that, but Google has really shifted their vision away from keywords and started to understand the semantic relationship between words.
 
Yes this is tru that long tail rankings naturally happen around main keywords, but you can also use this method and it will be great for you - If you have as many time to create 1 post per one day that is focused on specific keyword.
 
Yeah, it is advised to target long tails at first esp when you are in a very competitive niche. Long tail keywords have the main keyword most the time, so you're technically optimizing the site for the main keyword as well.
 
Longtail keywords are great for getting traffic to the site.
 
As far i know Longtail get you 70% higher targeted leads then MAIN keywords.So forgiving Long tail sucks :D
 
Yes try to rank for long tail keywords and silo your Web pages
 
Long tail KW will greatly helps you to get ranking, at the same time keep concentrating in your main KW.
 
In my opinion, Long tail strengthens and compliments the main keywords.. you are right on track man, wish you luck and dont forget to share the results
 
Try and rank site for main keyword publish new pages and try and get them ranked for longtails.
 
Long tail keyword cover allready 2- 3 keywords. that is good for our sites. According to google we must use long keywirds.
 
long tail keyword is best strategy to follow in getting ranks fastly but as the matter of fact backlinks for each page isn't a good idea to follow. Dont go to optimize everypage. It will harm your ranking
