For any newbies out there wondering should they go with Hostgator, ipage or godaddy, i strongly recommend Hostgator.
Hostgator have by far the best customer support - essential if like me you dont have a great deal of internet knowledge. I found they were always supportive, always fixed my problems and i was always happy with their service. The control panel was easy to navigate and everything is easy to learn/practice on.
Godaddy - too difficult to get hold of any support and a bit more complicated plus too many annoying buy now offers etc.
ipage - havent got a single good thing to say about them. i quite foolishly switched to them because they had a cheaper package and good reviews. Such a big mistake. Even though they have just given me loads of free add ons i seriously wouldnt recommend them to newbies.
Hostgator gets my vote and yes i will be promoting them once i get my sites up and running again.

I bought hosting with Ipages 2 days ago and I just asked for a refund, so complicated for no reason, and I ll still have to see if they ll refund as promised

Yup Hostgator Trips over themselves to work with you. One of the best Customer Services Companies I have ever dealt with..

Don't know about Godaddy but if you run the same WP site both on Ipage/fatcow and Hostgator you'll see the difference in loading speed. Hostgator loads faster. So yea, HG over iPage/Fatcow.

I have the godaddy ultimate package and I love it. I have had a couple of issues and l have called their support number, I have never been on hold for more than 1 minute and their support is based in America and not a bunch of Indians (no offense intended, the offense is aimed at the companies). You can understand them and they are very helpful (know their stuff). I have had hostgator and after buying their hosting I was given an Id check. After they replied to that 2 days later I uploaded my files and ran a mybb forum. About a week later some came on skype and said that my site was suspended. I found out later it was because I used to much resources. After switching to go-daddy I have never had any downtime at all.
Thanks for reading my rant :p

Godaddy is soooo pathetic in hosting. It was my first hosting account. I was really amazed when I left godaddy and found a decent hosting. Godaddy is ok for domaining, hosting is a bad joke.

D.

The ipage cpanel is actually so weird and complicated but yes Hostgator is by far one of the best in this business.

Hostgator is the only one I've had experience with. Watch out with high volumes of sporadic traffic. I done a product launch on one of their highest grade VPS's, got around 20k hits in 2 minutes. They shut me down. I even cleared it with them before the launch, they told me it would be fine. I lost thousands. We live and we learn, I was just a newbie and didn't know any better.
