It's bad, period! I appreciate that the other members try to push you, but take it from a fellow logo designer (6+ years) that this logo isn't something to showcase in your portfolio at the end of the day. But again, if you are paid less than $30 then it's fine, above $100 you will not have a long life within this field.
Allow me to give some constructive feedback:
1. Creativity: I still can't find the idea behind the concept. It's a sun and the other two swooshy vertical things are related to what? Make it a bit high-tech, use some effects to give a 3d effect (not extrude or something) just some nice gradients. Use something that will related to the niche the company is. Right now, even if it's an abstract thing, it still doesn't look related to the niche.
2. Execution: Don't know what software you used to build (hope it's something to create vectors not raster graphics) but you have unhealthy (amateur) end-points to some
lines
3. Color Pallet: Bad, very bad! The idea it's good with blue + orange but it's very bad that you choose to use the complementary orange and blue (I think you know what I mean with that). The Orange on Orange it's a no-no. That version when will be resized to smaller version will be indistinguishable for the viewer and the details will be missed. Like
this
4. Fonts. As a rule: Swooshy Icon = Swoshy fonts (Sans serif fonts in this case). Myself I would go with a very bold font for main word and a very light font for the words underneath (huge letter spacing). Try not to use any underline since it's outdated. The "point" above "i" it's a very good idea with changing the color. Myself I would change also the shape of it. Why not making same shape as the sun, resized to a smaller version to fit the "i"?
- Don't forget about the kerning typography in logo design when you build a logo. Google it!
5. Overall presentation. Good choices for light background and dark background but use plain white and black since this is mostly what the client will use it across the web (or offline in print). It's a bit too simple in my opinion, you can do way better with the presentation. If you look in the web there are countless of freebies with already built mockups to use: desktop view, mac view, iphone view, business cards, billboards, car etc etc etc
Even it's saturated this field is not so hard, you have 1-2 books to read about Logo design and then you are good to go as pro. Remember "Good artist copy it, great artists steal"(Picasso) + "When you just started in marketing area, just copy from someone else but make sure the copy is better than the original" (David Ogilvy)
