Lockdown is ruining me :(

Good shit man! What are your lifts and what weight class?
Appreciate it! I started training in February this year but due to gyms repeatedly closing, I've probably only had 3/4 months of un-interrupted daily training so that has slowed progress down by a lot. I'm 6ft2, currently weigh 82kg and my bench is 70kg (154lb), deadlift is 160kg (353lb) and my squat is 120kg (265lb). My bench is lagging behind a lot unfortunately but hopefully I'll be able to get it up soon. What are your lifts atm?

Most of the vaccines are in final stage and the lockdown should go off soon..

Nice man, that's a great start! :)

I am 6'6, 98kg
S: 182.5kg
B: 110kg (never went higher because of returning injury..)
D: 202.5kg

I quit training for strength about a month ago and transforming into bodybuilding now. I kept getting small injuries in my knee, hip and shoulder and I didn't feel like that was worth the 5 seconds of adrenaline rush when maxing out. feeling great training more isolation exercises and higher rep ranges :) won't be going back anytime soon

Small tip: adding good OHP volume and overhead tricep extensions carry over alot to bench press

I use this time to do a lot of work on my personal project.

Wow, those are some impressive lifts! I actually started off working out for aesthetic reasons but quickly wanted to just lift heavy. I'm sure some injuries will arise soon enough and I'll go back to bodybuilding. Best of luck with your goals though :)

One thing is always good and bad. We have a lot less customers in the gym, but the number of customers in the home gym has exploded. Stopping and looking at other opportunities is sometimes a good thing.

My gym has closed since march so i’ve really been missing the gains this year :(

Not a fan of working out at home. Lots of ppl come into my room all the time.

Yeah that’s an excuse but... I really hope gyms open again

come on man, you are on the right path, you seem to be very well put together.
If the lockdown will keep you healthy and safe then just accept it.
Try to get out of the things that bore you.
Go walk in the morning, or did they even prevent people from walking with masks on?

Try to stay positive and do new things on your computer.
May be have some push up or workload streaming site and you join them or something..

Don’t let things take you away from your positivity, you know you will get paid off soon because of the things you do now. Life is not all play, do things now to enjoy a long summer next year.

Hey man, the spring lockdown was pretty hard for me and I was looking for ways to keep my mental and physical state in shape. And here are a few things that helped me a lot:
- Wake up earlier, 7-8am worked great for me.
- Have enough sleep, at least 8 hours. To do that and wake up early you have to go to sleep earlier too.
- Sports. I know there is no gym, but you can buy 2 dumbells that you can change the weight on, do pushups, situps and a lot more stuff at home. I also was doing yoga which worked great during the lockdown.
- Go outside for a walk. If not every day, but every other day. Just walk outside around your house, neighbourhood, where you can. This was CRUCIAL for my mental state.
- Eat as healthy as you can
- Contact with your friends and family (chats, phone call, video calls even better) maintain that social environment cuz it's super important for mental health too.
- Meditate. It's super simple yet effective task (maybe not easy at the start, but simple). It lets your mind rest and refresh, keep your sanity and focus in place.
- Don't read the news or do it only once a day if you can't help it.
- And of course keep yourself busy, work on your projects and don't let the negative thoughts take your attention.

Hey man,

We've been through the same shit. My only advice is trust in yourself, automotivate you, do shit for yourself and don't seek for social validation. routine and loneliness can be a plague but they can also be a strength.

I used to experience burnout sensation when lockdown first came in the scene. It was terrible but then i realized there's nothing to be done apart from time management to learn something new.

Enormous number of people remained jobless in this period. Gracefully, IMers isn't one of them.

Exactly the same here. Every day the same shit. Also, I feel like it is such a waste of lifetime. And I don't see how things are going to get better, also with a vaccine. I see some comments from politicians and they keep saying there will still be restrictions also after people got vaccinated (for example wearing a mask) and it becomes really depressing like this shit is a never ending story.

Also, there is just so much bullshit going on about the testing, the media, how they count deaths, etc. that once you take a look into the details this whole stuff is not making any sense anymore.

The only way I keep motivating myself is by saying: Use the time to focus on your work, so after all this shit (lockdown, travel ban etc.) you can enjoy yourself more.

And it is definitely not good for my health. I can't do sports, I can't go to the gym. I am ordering food cuz I don't have the motivation to spend 30 minutes cooking and eating takes 5 minutes and 5 minutes to wash the dishes.

You are from the UK, I am from Germany. We basically sit in the same boat. Europe is a sinking ship...if you take a look on Asia you can see countries like Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam and also China doing so much better on every level. Their response to the virus is so much more reasonable.

I try to experience gratefulness during the lockdown.

Of course it can be boring, but for me it's a big opportunity to move things forwards and work on cool projects that I've always wanted to do.

But I explain this by having a cool project that motivates me these days. My friends who don't have any projects to focus on feel bored, because they don't feel useful, they feel stuck / passing time.
