Localized website domain

Hi guys,
We want to have a Canada website for Canada marketing, at the same time we already have a website domain "***.com" for US marketing, which works very well now.
So we are confused about the domain of this new Canada website, "***.com/ca" or "****.ca".
If we choose "***.com/ca", the Canada website will have a very good base for its SEO and can share with the ".com" backlinks, because we have lots of backlinks for the ".com" website already.
But ".ca" seems more local.
Very hard to decide. Is there anyone who can give us some advice?

If you’re only going to be targeting canada then yea you can take that country specific tld that’s fine

Both, as you mentioned has their different advantages. Using .ca would give a better boost to your local search so I think it will do good for your goal.

If you focus on a specific country then country-specific TLD are good, it helps in local search and benefits a lot.

Since your targeting a certain demographic, I'd advice the same.

Thanks for your advice. If I choose "***.ca", then I need to work hard to get some backlinks for this website., I think.

Yes, if you go for .ca TLD then you will have to work to get backlinks. Since it's local site, it's not going to be much hard, I think

Hi friends,

I have another concern that the ".com" website we have already very good SEO behaviour on google if I use "***.com/ca", then the website can share the traffic with "**.com" website.
What is your idea?
