Localized Domain For Offline Marketing?

I'm about to start my first offline campaign, and I have all of the details worked out in my head, except for the domain name.

My plan:

I am going to be promoting a dog training eBook. I have plenty of connections at local veterinary clinics and pet stores, and plan on making (well, probably hiring someone at GAF to make, as my creative designing skills are next to none) an attractive flyer to leave at these places. I'll have no trouble getting these in high-traffic, very targetted areas. I plan on redirecting the domain I choose directly to my affiliate link.

My problem:

I'm up in the air as far as what type of domain would be better for this. Should I go with something localized such as www. (insertcitynamehere)dogtraining. com *or* would that sound too cheezy?

Being as the product's landing page isn't formatted for my city, I am worried that using my city's name in the domain would turn people off because it sounds / looks kind of spammy.

Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing / have any advice to offer?

Go with a generic domain name, and consider making sub-domains for any city's you try to target?

baseurl: example.com
targeted:lasvegas.example.com

Maybe that is a decent idea. I am unsure of any seo implications. Good luck!

you could just mask your link so when its
redirected it stays as your domain

Problem with this is no HTTPs if I'm not mistaken. As for the domain, maybe you can make it your phone number .com and if they call you you can further pre-sell them. Just a thought... :chairshot

sub domains is what i would suggest as well. when people look at these they tend to think you are bigger than you are and must be targeting all cities.

sub domains is inexpensive as well, but a geo targeted domeain has a better chance of being available for registration

Subdomais are free and will work well. You can also have an unlimited number.
If you have a generic domain, consider if you will be able to rank for keywords. If you are doing offline marketing exclusively then the generic doamin is fine.

I always set things up from the beginning with thoughts of selling the site at a later date if I chose to.

GolfClubsChesterNJ.com is a geo target domain

Yeah, add another check for the subdomain idea. It's cheaper and will look better.
