Local Website Rank + Global Website Ranking Tips..

Hi guys..

Im really stuck right now. I have a company that I'm building.. we sell products locally only but also want the main index page to rank globally for the product name.

So here is the layout

Example

MAIN PAGE (index.html) KW : plumbers | Plumbing
SERVICES PAGE (services.html) KW : Plumber hollywood, find plumber hollywood
Smaller Services Page (toiletplumber.html) KW : toilet plumber hollywood
Smaller Services Page (masterplumber.html) KW : master plumber hollywood
etc

So how do i rank the main page globally but then rank the lesser pages locally? Its a new website so i wanted to start out slow and build up with only good strong links.

I know that local sites don't need many links and local niche related sites are very helpful. But I'm not sure how to rank up the global keyword and the local keywords.

If any BHW sep masters can give me some hints that would be great and i will give you thanks!

If you want all your inner pages to rank locally then why would you want your main page to rank globally?

For example, if you only offer plumbing in Hollywood then why would you need New Yorkers seeing your plumbing page?

For your main page, just focus on brand links to build your website up as a brand and don't waste your time trying to rank for a highly competitive and general keyword like "plumbing".

If you're more of a company that ships products all over the place instead of an actual store that people go to, then by all means try your luck on the general niche keyword. I'm sure someone experience here can give you tips on the backlinks themselves.

I think for main page you should use minimum 60 % Generic Keyword / Anchor text.

Ok yea i want to rank main page for "plumbing" if i can. I have page a service page for each of the local keywords i want to target.

Im just unsure how to start the back linking..

any local masters here who can give me some tips?

This is just keyword dilution, the % of keyword distribution doesn't change whether or not your keyword is global or local...
