If you are going to do local Facebook targeting, search here for Ulead, great tool for targeted Facebook leads for your site and even better for your fanpage! Good luck!

Step #1. Get your google places verified. Come back after that is done.

Google places is a must, could someone tell me what happens when all spaces are filled. Do they just rotate like sponsored listings?

I suggest that you go onto Youtube and look up "Paul James Google Places" subscribe to his channel. He is really good at ranking local businesses in the 7 pack. I followed his advice and it worked well for my clients.

I would get started with Google places followed by other important local directory submissions.

There are lots of things that go into making your google places show up. They do not rotate through. First, fill out a google places profile completely with lots of information, pictures, a good description, etc.

Then start getting free directory links from yellowpages.com superpages.com yelp.com kudzu etc. these are call citations so search for a citation list (here or google) and you will find a bunch. You will get lots of sales calls from these places, but just turn them down.

Depending on your niche this is a good start. Make sure your on page seo is good, decent keywords/content/etc. and then some decent backlinks (not really required depending on the niche). Give yourself 2-3 months depending on things with some reviews on those citations, most notably google, and you should do well

Work on landing page (tags, title, h1 with address) and get links from local authorative sites!
