Say I am targeting a service in Essex county...is it necessary that I also have separate pages for the cities with different titles but the content will be the same? Can I do this for all the 30+ cities in that county?

Like example http://www.google.co.uk/plumbing-in-castle-point
http://www.google.co.uk/plumbing-in-toronto

I was just curious if this is the correct way of doing things...same content for every city but just a change in title and meta description

To answer your question as to whether it's necessary to have a dedicated page for each location; Yes, absolutely!

I recommend injecting proper schema code to reflect each business location - do this for all of your websites. It will go a long way!

Other things like embed proper map connected to relevant GMB are also important. There's a lot to learn when it comes to optimizing your listings.

Question about naming gmbs with a brand.

Say for example I have a business that ranks well for a plumber in NYC. “Johns plumbing”

If I want to add more gmbs would I title them also “Johns plumbing” or “Johns plumbing Manhattan” and “Johns plumbing TriBeCa”
